The lights are on
Rockstar Games confirmed today it had to pull Grand Theft Auto: Vice City from digital PC stores due to a licensing issue with one of the songs found in the game.
"Due to some music licensing issues, we’ve had to temporarily remove Vice City PC from digital stores. We’ll make it available again as soon as possible," the company said in a statement. Reports of the game's disappearance began surfacing in late October.
A report from Cinemablend suggests the track in question is 'Wanna be Startin' Something' from Michael Jackson on Vice City's Fever 105 radio station, though Rockstar has not confirmed this. If you already purchased the game through Steam you can still download it.
Rockstar representatives said this issue should not affect the release of the iOS version later this fall.
Earlier this year, the PlayStation Network version of Grand Theft Auto III was delayed over two months due to licensing issues.
Darn't. I was planning on downloading it. I wanted to add a couple of mods to the vehicles. The last version I had on PC was San Andreas.
this is freeeeeeeekin outrageuos idk how to react to this!!!!!!!
Was this an issue when the game was released?
How did they miss that?
How did this become an issue all of a sudden?
I went to buy this on Steam when they had a Rockstar Games sale and couldn't. Now I know why...
that game was release years ago, and yet... argh~ I'm planning to download this game next week...
Daria has had similar issues due to it having tons of music from MTV in its episodes. I wonder though, does that mean if you leave the game unpatched it'll keep a song it legally shouldn't have. And in effect mean you both pirated and did not pirate something?
IP Legalities... ladies and gents.
I'm surprised, it's been out for quite awhile...
vice city is my favorite gta game.
Really? You're going to pick on a game that's 10 years old? It's not like you didn't make millions off of the song already. I love Michael Jackson but whoever's in charge of the rights to his songs is a real jerk.
Wow, that sucks. Good thing I have it for PS2. However, I'm sure the people who are looking forward to this for the mods are pretty pissed. I love watching the videos, they are bad ass.
