Emmett And Kat Join PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale

Kat from Gravity Rush and Starhawk‘s Emmett Graves join the roster for PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal as download content. Sony Santa Monica's Seth Killian says the team began work on the characters after the game was completed.

The characters are free to everyone for the first two weeks when they are available early next year.

"In addition to the signature weapons you’ll remember from his duels with the Outcasts on Dust, Emmett’s playstyle will also utilize Starhawk’s unique 'Build-in-Battle' system, calling down help from the sky," Killian says.

"Kat’s approach turns gravity on its head with some mind-bending new ways to move as she positions herself for her unique brand of aerial assault. Together, they make up one of the most original duos in All-Stars."

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royal is out November 20. Check out the full roster here.

  • I appreciate the new characters, but could they get a little less obscure for their next ones? Actually, I'll answer my own question: they're saving the really good new additions for paid DLC.
  • The original teaser also shows Lightning from FF and Isaac from Dead Space. Only a matter of time 'til that announcement.
  • ooh new characters.

  • I really loved Gravity Rush and ever since the leak that she might possibly be in the game I have been excited. So I am really glad to finally have this news. Can't wait to pick up my pre-order on the 20th. Gonna have a lot to play with this and Persona 4.

  • Seth Killian huh, I was wondering what he was up to.

  • I'm holding out for Sepheroth and Kefka! The ultimate ba duo.
  • Who and who?
  • That's a nice twist on the game. I need to get a PS3. All of these great characters are added to the games I don't have a PS3 to get one with all of its DLC. * time to save *

  • I've been waiting for Kat to be revealed, and Emmett is a nice touch as well. Now I know I must have this game.

  • You know what, I actually like the idea of making DLC free for a short time after release. That way late adopters still give money to the developers, but people who bought at launch don't lose more money just to get small parcels of content. Plus then it invalidates Project Ten Dollar. Come on EA, I know there's at least one person on your staff smart enough to agree with this idea...
  • Next up Cloud and Sephirtoth.......please
  • Interesting additions. A little obscure, but that's okay.

  • Sweet! I love getting free characters as DLC. I think I'm going to be enjoying this game quite a bit, at least until the next Smash Bros comes out on the Wii U.

  • I'm glad Kat will be in this game, but is she an unlockable?!! But next up for the roster. Sonic, Robotnik, And Bayonetta. Here's to hoping Jak and Daxter will be playable in the beginning, or an unlockable. Cheers. *Drinks Coco-Cola bottle*
  • That's really awesome. People have said that Kat were thinking that Kat would be a good addition to the roster and it's really nice that we can play with her for free! (That sounded kinda wrong...)
  • This game hasn't even been released yet, and there are already DLC characters? Why not include them from the onset, and make them secret, unlockable characters? *sigh*. It's just DLC in general that upsets me sometimes.
  • Can we ask for Alucard as DLC?

  • Kat was an expected addition considering the game has been faring rather good, but I feel Sony sniffs money in all this. I wouldn't go with Smash Bros. were Lucario and Wolf priced DLCs. No way.
  • Would have been a lot more excited for this game had Kat been in it from the start.
  • "The characters are free to everyone for the first two weeks when they are available early next year."

I was about to cry foul, but this is OK.
