Long-time Xbox Live Members Getting Free Xbox 360

The details aren't clear quite yet, but long-time Xbox Live members, those who have been on the service for 10 years, are getting a surprise from Microsoft.

Microsoft's Larry Hryb confirmed a report from Kotaku this morning saying "some" Xbox Live members are getting a commemorative console to celebrate the ten-year anniversary of Xbox Live. Hryb said he'll be able to share more details about this later in the week.

Additional photos of consoles showing up on people's doorsteps can be seen here.

  • I could kick my self for not keeping my old xbox account and only have one with six years :(
  • Only 3 years, for me. That's fine though, my Elite is proving well for service.
  • Looks like Microsoft is trying to get brownie points.
  • Aw man, I'm 1 year short
  • 16 months. Does that count?
  • Awww man. I bought my first older Xbox in 2005 then my first Xbox 360 a year later. Only been a Live member since 2007. Wish there was a 5 year present too.
  • Looks cool! Too bad that it's only for Xbox live members. I've been thinking about grabbing an Xbox and I like the design and style of this one.

  • I only needed 7 more years! Darn. =(
  • I did the math and if you pay $8 a month for Xbox Live for 10 years that's $960.
  • i say give anyone with a xbox at least 4 years old should get a new one because mine is *** now! it freezes all the time, takes literally 3o minutes to fully turn off after i press the button and is also running out of memory but i refuse to buy a new hard drive, i'm saving up for a slim xbox
  • Yet again, probably, not for us Europeans or people from Easter Island and such. We are actually funding the gold members in US and Canada. Poor sods.
  • Damn it microsoft, that 360 looks really cool
  • Aww man, I think I'm at 8 years. That sucks, oh well, I still have my Halo Reach Xbox, so...

  • Damn, you could probably eBay that thing for much more than retail.  People love commemorative ***.

I wonder if you had your service lapse for any amount of time during that ten years it would effect it?  Either way, even if there are only a few that qualify, cool doings by MS.

  • Son of a-Seven Years!  I want a Free Xbox! >:(

  • 6 years for me. darn.

  • I am a few years short. Awesome surprise for a few lucky ones though!

  • I don't like Microsoft at all, but I must say, that is pretty damn generous of them. I wish I've had an XBL membership for 10 years as that Xbox looks sweet!
