The lights are on
Valve's co-founder Gabe Newell got a visit from the Internet's /v/ board from 4chan.com, and they asked him what's going on with the Source engine.
You can see video of the visit below, where Newell preemptively knocks down any Half-Life 3 questions, but he does talk about additions to the Source engine. The audio is a little garbled, but Newell says that Valve has been working on new engine stuff, but they're waiting to show it off until they have a new game. Someone then asked, "Is it more than just an extension to Source? Like, is it an entirely new engine?" To which Newell replied, "Yeah."
There you have it! A new Source engine is coming at some point, and if it is related to Half-Life 3, Gabe Newell would never openly admit it.

The next Source is sure to be amazing, especially considering how good Portal 2 looks on the existing Source engine.
We'll see what happens when it's released.
It makes sense that they would have a new engine for the next wave of consoles.
I wonder if they will ever make a third game...
This is the best news for those who are hoping for a Half Life 3.
Every one! Remember that gabe said that he doesnt know how to draw, and next time you go to a tour, ask him to do a caricature of you!
I'm going to be so glad when Valve finally released games with the number "3" so that everyone can stop making the same joke in every Valve related article ever.
HALF LIFE 3 MENTIONED IN THIS ARTICLE = HALF LIFE 3 CONFIRMED!
Haha, he mentioned bronies. I'm a fan too, Gabe, but are 4chaners really the sort of people you want to talk to about that?
New Source Engine would make sense. Half-Life 2 was also the premier of a new engine.
