343 Industries Says Halo Could Jump Into Different Genres

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 06, 2012 at 03:15 AM

Halo 4's executive producer and impossibly cool last name owner Kiki Wolfkill said that taking Halo into genres outside of the first-person shooter is entirely possible. Wolfkill pointed to the live-action webs series Forward Unto Dawn as an example of how Halo could work outside of a shooter video game.

In an interview with CVG.com, Wolfkill explained the vast possibilities for the franchise. "Forward Unto Dawn allowed us to explore characters a little bit differently and tell a different kind of story – and that is interesting to us. We want Halo as a universe to grow and evolve and be a Star Wars... all the good parts about Star Wars!"

On our cover story trip for Halo 4, we spoke to Frank O'Connor about this exact possibility, including whether or not the team is interested in a sequel to Halo Wars. Watch the video below.

Wolfkill also said that 343 Industries considers itself not just a development studio, but an IP studio. You can check out the full interview by clicking here, and you can check out our Halo 4 review right here.
