Which Halo Is The Best Halo?

by Kyle Hilliard on Nov 04, 2012 at 12:36 PM

It's a simple question. Which Halo game is the best Halo game? Obviously, the original Halo holds a special place in every Halo fan's heart. I had a permanent LAN setup exclusively for Halo at my house. My parents really loved all the late night yelling matches that accompanied every match.

Halo 2 came out while I was in college, and I would leave my dorm room door open for anyone to jump in my game who happened to pass by. Because of this, it seemed like there was always a Halo 2 game happening at all times.

I played quite a bit of Halo 3 and ODST, but I didn't log nearly as many hours in either as I did in Halo or Halo 2. I never actually played Halo Wars, or Halo Anniversary. RTS games just don't do much for me, personally and I wasn't interested in replaying the single player offerings of the original Halo. I was also disappointed that the multiplayer was just a map pack for Halo Reach.

While we're on the topic of Halo Reach, I think that one may be my favorite in the series. I had fallen off the Halo bandwagon a bit after being lukewarm on Halo 3. Halo Reach re-invigorated my fandom. Jumping online to play multiplayer became a nightly event for both my wife and I for about a month after release, and we played through the game on the Legendary difficulty together, something I had never felt the need to do in the previous Halos.

Of course, this might all change on Tuesday with the release of Halo 4.

What about you? What has been your favorite Halo experience to date?
