The lights are on
The big news in the entertainment industry yesterday was Disney’s purchase of Lucasfilm, which brings with it the rights to future Star Wars video game.
Disney chairman and CEO Roger Iger spoke about the video game side of things in yesterday’s investor call, implying that Disney would likely focus on mobile and social games for the series, but that they’d consider licensing Star Wars for game creation on consoles. LucasArts also stepped up to say that plans for Star Wars 1313 remain unchanged for the time being.
Nonetheless, the new opportunity for Star Wars video games to break away in new directions in the coming years seems highly probable. What Star Wars game ideas would you like to see turned into real games? What developers and publishers would be the best potential licensors?
