EA: Medal Of Honor Launch Below Expectations

Electronic Arts is disappointed with the early results of Medal of Honor Warfighter.

While EA didn't disclose specific sales figures yet, the publisher indicated things aren't going too well. “The Medal of Honor launch is coming in below our expectations," said CEO John Riccitiello. The average review score for the game currently sits in the low 50s.

EA says, however, that Medal of Honor Warfighter topped its first week in sales in the UK. An update on North American sales were not provided at this time.

“We’re disappointed with the critical reception," added Frank Gibeau, president of EA's Labels. "Our internal testing and mock reviews indicated that the game is better than the actual score we have right now. We believe it is.

"However, we are seeing some folks out there that just don’t like the game."

EA says it will continue to support the game with marketing and additional content going forward.

  • Maybe they should stop releasing horrible games and this won't happen.
  • "Our internal testing and mock reviews indicated that the game is better than the actual score we have right now."... Really EA? Really?
  • They still make these games?

  • wow...that's too bad. I absolutely love it. Currently I am juggling both warfighter and AC3. Really though, I feel bad. In my opinion it is an amazing game despite whatever bugs I have encountered. They really aren't that big of a deal for me at all.
  • I'm so surprised!

  • cus it is garbage. man i dumbed 67$ oh what a mistake. this game is a mediocre copy of cod. where are all the people who insult cod? cod is way much better than this game and black ops 2 will be much better...im turning it in today to get ZOE 2 on ps3
  • Of course they think that their game is good, but that doesn't make it good. Plus, I'm probably not the only one tired of military shooters. Give me a series that actually has an original exciting storyline and not boring action. Don't feel that you have to compete with cod.
  • ...

  • So...basically EA is saying: "We don't get it, Activision releases a crappy game too and theirs sold like hell. Why doesn't our crappy game do the same?" At least that's how I read it =p

*Wizard of OZ voice*: "Pay no attention to the broken game we shipped, or the huge day one patch that followed".

This is what happens when you do things half-assed. The most disheartening thing about this response is that it doesn't seem like they've learned a thing, and they'll likely repeat this mistake with some other game.

  • Instead of releasing A COD rip off before COD releases they should wait for the hype to die down and release it during during the summer gaming droughts.
  • The game really is better then the scores it's been given so far, but they really did need to put more effort into the campaign.
  • I dont think it did well because... its probably funner to actually fight in a war than to play this glitchy abomination. Least thats what my Marine buddy says :)
  • EA should be more disappointed with their development and publishing process than their sales results
  • This game multiplayer is so bad that in HARDCORE you dont even know when you kill the enemy...you get hit markers but you dont know for sure if you killed the guy or not. The menus are AWWWFULLLL. its so much stuff on the screen its ridiculous and EA should be shot for the graphics as well. WHAT WERE THEY THINKING?!?!?!
  • The play-testers must have lied and told them it was a good game lol.
  • "Our internal testing and mock reviews indicated that the game is better than the actual score we have right now. We believe it is." Wow EA. You must have some horrible play testers or something. The game is utter horrible and deserves all the low scores it's gotten.
  • They need to quit following CoD and take this franchise in a different direction. Maybe something that spans multiple wars? Maybe go back to WW2 or do Nam or Korea? People who buy Call of Duty are only going to buy Call of Duty. There's no turning them.
  • Wait, EA is actually surprised by this? No one liked the 1st one in the re-boot, and you think a poorly received game will get a successful sequel? The original MoH games weren't even that good. Just proved how out of touch EA really is.
  • That game is pure garbage. 65$ for a less than 3 hr campaign and a pathetically bland multiplayer. I'm not too hard on most games. Hell, I managed to get some enjoyment out of MorphX, but Medal of Honor: Warfighter is as bad as most reviews say.
