The lights are on
Valve is readying Steam, the online video game distribution service, for Linux, but it needs some help making sure it works.
If you're a Linux user, and you want to lend a hand/get your hands on Steam for Linux a little early, head here and sign up for the beta.
Email the author Kyle Hilliard, or follow on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, and Game Informer.
I'm glad Linux friends can get in on this.
No thanks.
I'm really excited about this, but I'm not sure if I'm an experienced enough user. I guess it can't hurt to fill out the survey.
Finally. The one thing that keeps me running back to Win, is the lack of games on Linux platforms.
Sure, you have some humble bundles, and you can get most things working, with wine, but when you play something (hardware) intensive, you want less things to run in the background, not a whole emulated OS.
Glad Valve does this.
YESH!
...
Well, I guess this gives me a reason to try out Steam, now.
Although, don't they know we could run this with Wine and Winetricks?
Then again, I hear some games won't download.
I love this. Once steam gets all it's games ported over to linux, I will never use windows or mac os ever again! Horray!!
might have to reinstall linux
Nah.
I'm interested, but I won't be in.
Major win for Linux. I am still a long way off from converting away from Microsoft. I was really negative on Windows 8 but am am slowly being won over. I really like the Sky feature and the Windows Store can't be all bad. If they enable you to merge your XBox Live account into the Windows 8 storefront, I'll be sold!
I don't even know what Linux is.
