The lights are on
GameStop said today it's opening 80 brand-new stores across the country this holiday focused on kids and families. The Dallas Business Journal reports the new GameStop Kids carry E-rated video games and other accessories and toys, such as a 2-foot-tall talking Star Wars Chewbacca and Skylanders backpacks.
“This is really a way for us to take share away from people who are in the toy business and have an expanded assortment,” says GameStop CEO Paul Raines.
GameStop says if the stores are a success the company will consider leaving them open past the holiday and possibly making them permanent. The first GameStop Kids opens Friday, October 26, at the Grapevine Mills Mall in Dallas, Texas.

This is a wonderful idea. Now parents will take their snot nosed brats to those instead of GameStops that carry Call of Duty or other M rated games.
I think this is a great idea for parents. I get really concerned when parents that don't do research buy their kids adult games. At least now, parents that don't have time will be able to get appropriate games for their young children.
This doesn't solve the problem with parents that have teens with different maturity levels but at least it prevents a parent purchasing Saints Row 3 for their 7 or 8 year old. =/
It seems like a waste of money. Why have the same gamestop but not aimed towards its main audience being 17-35 i believe??? It seems to be a setup for failure.
Cool! I'll probably go in a Gamestop kids when they start to open all over the place.
So are the regular stores still carrying E rated games, and which branch do T games go to. And where are the other 79 stores opening? I demand answers.
Great! Now the employees can scam little kids too!
What a terrible company, every time I go in there its like a different planet. Takes gaming nerds to a whole different level. "Would you like to reserve Call of Duty?" "No thanks man". "Trust me its gonna be great, just like the others". "I'll just take my game and leave, thanks". "But wait there's more..." 25 minutes later I can leave the *** store and have to put up with this dudes ***.
Doesn't help my brother used to work their years ago and a close friend still works there.
I like it, parents are ignorant for the most part to game ratings, but by creating a store that only caters to kids and carries age appropriate games then I think those less informed may take to this version of GameStop knowing that little Beatrice isn't getting a game with questionable content.
wow, i live 5 minutes away from that mall :O
well...thats cute. hope they not offer the trade thingy
O_o ok... What ever I gusse
