The lights are on
One group's ambitious quest to build a full-scale Millennium Falcon has Star Wars on our minds. Nerds love arguing for the things we love. Few nerdy fires rage as brightly as the debate over Star Trek or Star Wars being the superior science-fiction series. So out with it, already: Rancors or Romulans? Kirk or Luke? The Force or beamin' up?
Let me start. My first true introduction to sci-fi involved seeing Star Wars Episode IV: A New Hope when the special editions hit theaters. The easy-to-follow story, lightsaber fights, and bad-ass Han Solo were enough to hook me on the space opera. I patiently waited for the other two films in the original trilogy to release, and instantly fell in love with Boba Fett, speeder bikes, and the Battle of Hoth. Layer on a generous helping of Star Wars merchandise and games like Dark Forces to play with, and my fandom was sealed.
Around that time I would also catch episodes of the original Star Trek TV show. I didn’t have the perspective I have now, so I didn’t appreciate how seminal the series was to all science fiction. The cheesy acting, fake-looking monsters, and slowly paced episodes couldn’t keep my attention. Also, the terrible Star Trek games never could stack up against the Super Star Wars series, further solidifying my opinion. Since then I’ve attempted to get into the Star Trek series, but it never sticks.
I confidently call myself a Star Wars guy, by a huge margin. I respect Star Trek and hope to experience the series' entire, massive offering, but I'd rather rewatch the original Star Wars trilogy any day.

Star Wars long live Darth Revan!
Most definitely without a doubt 100% Star Trek. I know its campy and the special effects look ridiculous next to Star Wars, but I can't help but love it all the same. And the reboot was incredibly awesome.
I really like both but my vote goes to Firefly. One of my favorites EVER.
I'm gonna sit this one out. I'll let you know I'm a Star Wars guy. but I get way too into, and it can get pretty ugly...
Although I like Star Trek, I prefer Star Wars any day of the week (The original trilogy of course, not those "other, so-called" movies).
Star wars! What generated the most money? What is cooler than a lightsaber? Holy crap! I just figured out lightsaber is already in my swipe text dictionary! Enough said.
Star Wars. Sorry Trekkies, but nobody calls Han Solo a b**ch.
Star Wars, without a doubt. Han Solo, the only black man in all of the universe (Lando), and Obi Wan are some of my favorite Sci-Fi characters of all time. Star Trek is good, don't get me wrong, but not as good, the universe just isn't as colorful and the story isn't as enthralling. I of course am only talking about the original trilogy of Star Wars, if wer're talking episodes 1-3 then Star Trek kicks it ass to Hoth and back.
My girlfriend is a huge Star Trek nut (of the original Shatner/Kirk series at least, she doesn't seem to like Next Generation). I've seen all of the movies as well as a few episodes of the show but I have to say that deep down I will always be a Star Wars guy.
Ever since I first saw the original trilogy when I was like 8 or 9 years old I've been hooked. I probably played the original Shadows of the Empire game for N64 more than any other N64 game I had and the KoTOR games remain as one of the greatest examples of RPG perfection in my opinion.
Star Wars, all the way!
star wars. more so when looking at and comparing the expanded universes.
Star Wars easily although don't mind the new star trek movie
Overall star wars is better. Great canon and depth, mainly in the novels. Good characters etc. original series of star trek and first few movies (wrath of Khan specifically) are just so good. Idk.hard to compare them
Star Wars. But I love Patrick Stewart soooooo much. But Mark Hamill is another big favorite of mine.
I'm still waiting for some nerd to say "Despite it not being categorized in the Sci-Fi genre, The Lord of the Rings is a vastly superior franchise to both Star Trek and Star Wars."
I like both but Star Wars will always be the best in my opinion.
What? No love for Stargate fans?
I'm a massive nerd for ancient mythologies, so obviously Stargate beats out Star Wars and Star Trek... For me, at least.
