Halo 4 Season Pass Announced

With Halo 4's release just a few weeks away, Microsoft outlined the post-release content plans for the game. The War Games Map Pass gives you a 15 percent discount if you purchased all the upcoming maps individually.

The pass costs $24.99 USD2 (2,000 Microsoft Points) and gives you access to three War Games map packs as they become available. Additionally, purchasers receive two in-game helmets (‘Scanner’ and ‘Strider’) as well as a unique in-game emblem (‘Falcon’).

The Halo 4 War Games Map Pass is included as part of the Limited Edition Halo 4 game, Microsoft says.

Below are the War Games map details:

Crimson Map Pack (December release timeframe)

  • Maps: Wreckage, Harvest, Shatter
  • Description: Witness the chaos of a clash of civilizations in Wreckage, with its blend of claustrophobic spaces and dangerous exposures and venture into the human colony environs of Harvest, and explore a human foray on an alien moon in Shatter.

Majestic Map Pack (February release timeframe)

  • Maps: Landfall, Monolith, Skyline
  • Description: Landfall’s emphasis is on infantry battles against a glittering ocean on a distant world, while Monolith exposes you to the naked vacuum of space – and the firepower of opposing teams, and Skyline’s distinctly industrial feel provides new challenges in somewhat familiar, but occasionally confined spaces.

Castle Map Pack (April release timeframe)

  • Maps: Daybreak, Outcast, Perdition
  • Description: Daybreak is set in a military facility against the backdrop of an idyllic mountain range, while Outcast plunges you into the warrens, canyons and arches of an alien edifice, and Perdition takes players into the heart of an urban sprawl, with tactical speed and situational awareness its key features.
Comments
  • The only reason why I would get an Xbox....Halo. LONG LIVE PLAY!
  • Are these included in the Limited Edition? (Game, not console).
  • no. im happy to shell out the money for single player dlc like ac3 is doing, but im not going spend $25 just for some multiplayer maps
  • Well at least this is multiplayer DLC rather than something like,"Find out what really happened at the end of Halo 4 because we wanted to charge you money for something that should have been there in the first place"
THERE ARE NO SPOILERS IN MY POST! In case anyone thinks there is.
  • I just preordered the Halo 4 Xbox, not the biggest fan of Halo, but my launch 360 is slowly dying, and the design looks surprisingly cool.
  • The way it's worded, it sounds like Skyline is a Headlong remake. I hope I'm right.

  • I think I'll pass...
  • Hope they also gonna put this on a Disk, as I am not buying digital goods for they have no resale value.
  • Can anyone tell me what goodies the Halo 4 console actually comes with as extra goodies for the game? I know I'm picking it up eventually but can't afford it at launch. I will be able to get the Limited edition of the game and know it comes with most , if not all, the content I care about. I've yet to see anyone go into detail about that yet. I'd really appreciate the info.
  • all dlc maps already detailed, named, and release dates already set.... so they withhold maps they've already probably done, just to make more money off it as dlc... great job 343... the virus of gaming that is DLC continues to infect
  • glad I got the limited edition
  • This is a brilliant marketing scheme. Cheaper for people who know they will want all three so big bonus to the customer. Incentive for people to buy the package in case they want all three. And finally even if people aren't playing the game out this far they still purchased the season pass so Microsoft still gets more money then they'd get if the customer bought one or two map packs

  • I want Waterworks!

  • Wait, so since I'm buying the Limited Edition version of Halo 4, I get this content for "free?" Cool! :)
  • Edit: Extra 2 helmets and emblem will also come with LE map pass. Information below is no longer valid since a few hours ago.

To be clear, the War Games Map Pass that comes with the LE edition of the game will not include the 2 helmets and I assume the emblem as well that you would have gotten if you buy the map pass from XBL.

Last I saw, this was confirmed in the Waypoint site by the BS Angel community manager. Said something about working on this to not inconvenience people but, I have not heard anything since. And with the craptastic job that they have done with the LE I would guess that they arent fixing this.

Just a heads up if you want those helmets and stuff.
  • And just like that, Halo 4 is a Price Drop for me. I'll just wait... I have a lot in my backlog already.
