The lights are on
We don't know much about Disney's upcoming project "Toy Box." That's because it hasn't been officially announced yet. The New York Times recently did an interview with Disney Interactive co-presidents James Pitaro and John Pleasants. The article mentions a project that is said to combine Pixar and Disney characters into a console game for the first time.
Here's an excerpt from the New York Times article:
Mr. Pleasants is also pouring money into a project Disney refers to as Toy Box, a console game with extensive mobile and online applications in which various Pixar and Disney characters will interact with one another for the first time. “I’m excited about what we’ve already done and where we’re going,” he said, adding that Disney has had three No. 1 apps in the last six months.
We reached out to Disney for any additional information. We'll update this story if we hear back.

Yay? Hard to say at the moment, but it's always good to see signs that Disney Interactive "Gets it". Y'know - moving away from cheap, rushed licensed movie tie-ins and more towards more original, video game friendly takes on Disney themes and universes. Like with Kingdom Hearts and Epic Mickey?
I only wonder why they don't let their animators and storytelling talent actually work directly with their studios, like Avalanche and Junction Point. Take, for example, the character designers for Wreck-It Ralph. Why not have them work on a new IP with one of those studios? Create - duh - the characters for it, and help develop the world, maybe come up with the root of the story? That talent is the same kind of talent that goes into great game-making.
now this is one of my most anticipated games
I think Pixar characters should get a box to themselves. They shouldn't be fraternizing with those lesser toys lol
Super Toy Box Brawl All-Stars!!
I hope this turns out well. Seriously, The beast battles Mr. Incredible? Woody teams up with Jiminy Cricket? Dory converses with Flounder? I'm filled with anticipation!
I enjoy Pixar films so I am curious to see what this game actually is.
We've known about it for several months now, though we didn't have a lot of details. From what we 'know,' it will be titled 'Disney Infinity' (the actual artwork does exist) and will also involve NFC/RFID based, interactive collectibles a la Skylanders.
