The lights are on
We believe the children are our future. Teach them well and let them lead the way. That is why Game Informer has teamed up with Extra Life to help give sick kids a fighting chance.
On October 20, starting at 8:00 a.m. central time, we’ll begin live-streaming a 24-hour gaming marathon. Game Informer editors Tim Turi and Ben Reeves will be joined by GI intern Mike Mahardy and former intern Jack Gardner. We're still more than $3,000 from our goal, so please help us raise the rest. You'll feel better about yourself, and then we'll be able to stop guilting you. All proceeds go directly to kids in need at Minnesota's Gillette Children's Specialty Healthcare and other hospitals around the nation involved with Extra Life.
Here's more info about this great charity:
Most importantly, what will we be doing during this thing? Playing video games! Possibly Resident Evil 6, Dishonored, or Borderlands 2. We might also reward big donors with the power to choose what game we play, force us to compete in tournaments or speed runs against one another, or earn some cool prizes. Will we slowly lose our minds over the course of 24 hours? Will Mike show up wearing a weird hat? Will Tim be forced to play some awful game? Will Jack learn to love again? We don't know, but you can tune in this Saturday and find out.
We love you.
But our love is conditional to the amount of money you help raise for charity. That's right, if you don't have money to give you can join Team GIO on Extra-Life and play alongside us in spirit and use social media to help raise money.
Email the author Ben Reeves, or follow on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, and Game Informer.
Nice, definitely gonna be tuning in for this
Thanks Ben for putting this story up, anybody who wants to organize events with the community should join the TEAM GIO group right here on GIO. Just search TEAM GIO Group.
sweet I will definitely watch this.
Awesomesauce. I'll be with you guys in spirit, laughing inside about you all loosing your collective minds.
Is there going to be a way to view the whole thing after it ends? I won't be able to watch much when it is actually live
Can't wait I'll be right there with you guys except I'll be starting at 12:00 a.m. and won't be doing a livestream.
GET PUMPED!!!! for the kids
Saturday... okay i'm there you guilted me into it
"Will Tim be forced to play some awful game?"
This isn't even a legitimate question. Of course he will.
Just hoping the wife lets me play a decent amount of time in between chores and my daughter's volleyball game. If so, planning on Borderlands 2, Dishonored and Resident Evil 6 if not also Dragon's Dogma, Skyrim, etc.
My plea to someone who is rich: donate the 3,000+ dollars they need to reach their goal, and force Tim Turi to play Overblood 2 for 24 hours. ;)
Ben, you have already lost your mind. If anything, this marathon may make you sane.
Nice. Good for you, Gameinformer staff.
I'll definitely tune in on the action! I'm going to play Borderlands 2 or Minecraft during my time, maybe both.
I would totally tune in to see this, but I have to go to a birthday party. But I'll be there in spirit Go team GIO!!!! :D
Me and some others are gearing up for Dead Island and some RE6. definitely looking forward to this. and I do want to see some of this marathon.
Submitted mah moneyz. It's for a great cause, so this was a no-brainer.
