The Evolution Of The Silent Hill Series

by Kimberley Wallace on Oct 16, 2012 at 06:20 AM

Cha-cha-changes. Many survival horror series have gone through a shift this generation, and we're seeing that once again today with the release of Silent Hill: Book of Memories. Book of Memories is a large departure for the series, marking the first time a Silent Hill game has multiplayer and a top-down perspective. The focus isn't on psychological horror as much as it's about a co-op experience. The Silent Hill series has seen plenty of changes this generation - Homecoming was more action-focused, Shattered Memories took combat out completely, and Downpour tried to provide a happy medium.

How do you feel about the evolution of the series? Do you like that it's taking risks, or think the series should stick to what it built?

Are you picking up Book of Memories, why or why not?

Of all the Silent Hill games to hit this generation, which one is your favorite and why?

Also, be sure to check back later, for an editorial on where I think the series needs to go next.
