Second Wave Of Indie Games Greenlit On Steam
Valve announced today that over 20 more titles have been selected as part of its Steam Greenlight program – more than twice the number initially planned.
Valve cites the development and gamer communities' enthusiastic response to the program as the driving factor in increasing the size of the second Greenlight group."Given the number and quality of games submitted, and the ship date of many of the top-ranking titles, the decision was made to increase the size of this group," the company's press release says.

Steam Greenlight is a community-driven approval process designed to help Valve target the best indie projects for expedited release on its popular digital delivery platform. Without the money and marketing of a big publisher to get the word about small-studio games out, they can sometimes be lost in the shuffle. Greenlight uses community voting to allow noteworthy products to rise to the top, and has been remarkably successful in that mission since its August 30 launch.
I personally salute Valve for the company's support of the ongoing indie explosion in the PC space. Democratizing the approval process seems to be a winning strategy so far.
