The lights are on
Mojang has revealed test footage from its new project 0x10c. The game incorporates several elements that made Minecraft popular, including resource gathering and player creation.
PC Gamer recently visited the studio in Sweden and saw the game in action. Check out the full interview they did with studio head Markus “Notch” Persson and take a look at the footage below.
"The goal is to have it feel a bit like Firefly,” says Notch. “You can try to land on a planet but you mess up and, instead of having the ship just explode like it would in real life, the landing gear gets broken. Then you have to try to fix that by finding resources. Instead of the adventure being flying from here to here, it’s: I set the destination, oh god I hit a small asteroid and the cloaking device broke. I think they really nailed that kind of emergent aspect in FTL.
So he's using lowgrade TF2 models as playtest characters, well ok then hahahaha
Well I like what I see even though there really isn't much to see. Even the fact they're showing something this early makes me happy, because it most likely means we'll be getting constant updates as the game progresses.
I got really interested when he said "Firefly."
I gotta say, I love the concept. I can't wait to see how this goes!
I was playing snake on YouTube and I got so far but the freaking video ended!
The concept sounds awesome.
All the stuff he describes sounds cool...but it basically just looks like a video of him running around a ship firing his blaster nonstop, and occasionally typing into a computer console.
No doubt it'll be the same system as Minecraft where we basically open-beta it until he's happy with in it's basic form, and starts charging for it.
A strange leap from minecraft but I like it
