The lights are on
Update: Telltale says it's aware that some players are having issues with the fourth episode in its Walking Dead games not recognizing past saves, and it's working on a solution.
Here's the official statement:
Telltale’s support team is aware that a small number of users are affected by this issue, and is working rapidly with those affected to help identify a solution. If anyone is experiencing any issues, we recommend they reach out to email@example.com or visit http://www.telltalegames.com/support/ for solutions from our team as they become available.
Original story: Telltale's adaptation of The Walking Dead is one of the more successful examples of incorporating player choice into a game's story. The decisions that players make affect the game in significant ways, often leading to the death of a supporting character. It's understandable then that players who are experiencing save-game issues after downloading episode four are getting particularly upset.
Affected players are posting about their problems on Telltale's official forums. Some players are saying that their progress from episodes 1-3 isn't recognized, and that they get a message saying choices will be randomized when starting episode four. It seems to be an issue across various platforms, though it's clearly not affecting everyone. For those who are having issues, it's obviously a pretty big deal.
We've reached out to Telltale about the problem, and we'll update this story if we hear anything.
Thanks for the tip, Dylan!

I have problems with the achievements. I'm almost done with it and the achievements from chapters 1 through 4 just disappeared saying that I haven't got them yet when I've done them already and got the notification saying I got it.
I have a PS3 and I had this problem!!!
I had PlayStation Plus when I got the first two episodes, but Plus expired on me shortly after I bought the Walking Dead Bundle.
PlayStation Plus leaving meant my game save was discarded. I discovered that I needed episode 1 redownloaded but couldn't due to Plus. So I had to buy episode 1 separately (paid 15 bucks for bundle, but later realized it was 20 dollars???). After this happened, I loaded the game and it worked fine.
This may be only be an issue to some, but if you were in the same boat as me I hope this helps.
thats a shame
This has been going on ever since episode 2 came out. I had a LOT of trouble trying to make Episode 2 recognize my save from the first episode. I'm not even sure how I managed to make it work.
I had that happen with Episode 3. It eventually started reading my previous game saves after restarting several times.
ive had this problem happen twice and whats weird is that your saved file is still on your hard drive yet it does not recognize it so i had to start over the first time from episode 1 but it happened again just yesterday and i restarted episode 4 and my choices were still intact
Update... nevermind I got home and tried to continue my game and to start the game doesn't work. After switching compatability modes on the exe it runs, but surprise, all saves are gone. Their customer service on this issues has been awful. Just head over to there forums to see how bad it is.
THIS FREAKING HAPPENED TO ME!! i had to play episode three again :I!
That stinks, this game is all about save data.
This happened to me on PC ( Steam ). Hopefully the figure it out soon, I have been wanting to play so bad. I can never get enough walking dead.
I have had that problem since before episode 4 came out. I did find a solution though, first i make a copy of "the walking dead" folder on my desktop, then i start the game. Then i exit the game delete the original folder and paste the copy. This method has worked for me.
i cant wait to get this on disc and to watch the show this sunday.
That's a problem but wont keep me from playing
Why do these zombies have such nice hair? O.o
I fortunately did not have this issue, which is good because I probably wouldn't have played through Episode Four if I had.
Funny! Wrote a mail to them about this yesterday! =)
Something similar happened to me when I went to play episode two. It didn't recognize that I played episode one at all and started that one instead of two. I quit out to the main menu and pressed to play episode two again and it worked. Dumb luck? Maybe.
I am a victim of this, and I am not happy. Someone make me a sammich and rub my tummy. NOW.
I figured out how to fix it! all id did when it did it to me was copy the file with the first 3 episodes to a different slot and it worked just fine!
