The lights are on
Taking the Gears of Universe from video games to the world of film has been attempted before, but the project lost steam and was placed on indefinite hold. Now it looks like the project may be picking up again.
Variety reports the Creative Artists Agency (CAA) is, "eager to meet with producers in the coming weeks and set up the project elsewhere." Gears of War on film was originally being helmed by producers Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey, who are best known for their work with the adaptation of the Twilight series from book to film. A first draft of a Gears script, written by Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides screenwriter Stuart Beattie, is expected to be taken to Chris Morgan and Billy Ray for consideration, both of whom lent help to the script. Morgan is known for his work on the film, Wanted, while Ray worked on the recent The Hunger Games.
All we can really do at this point, is wait and see what happens, if anything.

This movie will probably get a bunch of people staying up all night for its release. How good of a job they do making a videogame into a movie we do not know yet. Good for all Gears fans.
I won't believe its being made until it starts actually filming.
still doubt its going to be made.
lets hope everything actually works out this time
Boo to this idea the Gears games are genuine works of art and should be to allowed to stand as they are. No to this idea
.....wow great credentials....so excited?
I can't imagine why such a film would entice me. Gears of War never struck me as too interesting in terms of character. Too bro-bro testosterone, which doesn't appeal to me.
The movies they worked on don't impress me much but I think they were at least good adaptations so hopefully they will make a good adaptation
Anything short of The Expendables and I'm out.
no! the biggest problem with converting a game into a movie is the lack of providing the exact same characteristics as our beloved characters, including the voice....which personally to me is a big problem. The max payne movie sucked....mostly in part to a terrible script, but I severely missed James Macaffrey's voice work.....his voice makes that character who he is, no one else can dialogue like him. We will run into a similar problem when it comes to Marcus and everybody else from gears. We know these characters voices and it is a part of those characters.
plus.....those are the wrong people to attempt to tackle a gears movie....I mean are they serious? this is about as bad as teenage alien mutant ninja turtles (luckily that script was scrapped and do for a rewrite.
I actually wouldn't want a Gears movie.
I don't think I'm excited for a Gears movie, but if it happens, I'll probably check it out.
Don't know how well this would transition as a movie, but we'll see. Special effects better be on point though.
