Sony UK: Vita Price Cut Next Year

by Jim Reilly on Oct 01, 2012 at 08:30 AM

While the PlayStation Vita has been struggling to sell since launch, Sony seems intent on not dropping the price in the immediate future.

Speaking to Eurogamer, Sony Computer Entertainment UK VP Fergal Gara said a price cut won't be happening until next year and that Sony instead will add value to the existing price point by introducing new bundles.

"We always aim to establish price cuts," Gara  said. "So the question is not so much if, but when. We won't have an across the board price down this Christmas. But what you will see us doing is work very hard with our retail partners to add value to the product to make it more compelling."

He continued: "Even this week there are some tremendously attractive bundles out there, for example wi-fi Vita plus LittleBigPlanet at the £200 price point. There's the wi-fi product again plus FIFA 13 plus Uncharted Golden Abyss plus LittleBigPlanet at not much above the £200 price point. We will be working that very hard over the coming weeks as more and more software arrives."

In the U.S. this fall, Sony is rolling out two Vita bundles for Assassin's Creed Liberation and Call of Duty: Black Ops - Declassified.
