Capcom May Consider Resident Evil 2 Remake With Enough Support

Don't get too excited just yet. Capcom isn't remaking Resident Evil 2. But if enough people demand it then it could be made. Maybe.

"Just to lay all the cards on the table, that way there's no rumor-mongering or things like that, no, we are not working on a Resident Evil 2 remake as of now," Capcom producer Yoshiaki Hirabayashi told GameSpot in an interview.

"But if the fans really clamor for it; if there's a groundswell of support for remaking that game, then I think that's something Capcom would take under consideration."

It's odd that Capcom thinks such a project even needs fan support. Resident Evil is the company's most popular brand. A remake of Resident Evil 2 would be highly anticipated.

Capcom released a remake of the first Resident Evil for Game Cube back in 2002.

Id buy that, by far my favorite RE of the series. I was hoping maybe they would include a HD remake of it with the anthology edition.

I loved RE4 and Revelations, but haven't dabbled too much into the rest of the series, besides wanting to play the REmake. I'd definitely play a RE2make after seeing the Super Replay. Speaking of that, RE1 Super Replay!

They should just do an HD remake for the systems with Resident Evil 1-3. We already 4 and code veronica, it would be perfect. I would love the ability to use resident evil 6's controls though.

This should only be remade if it is on the same level at the GameCube Resident Evil 1 remake. Should they want to remake it like RE4 then no thank you!

Remember guys, Resident Evil 2 isn't exactly the strongest Resident Evil game. Even remade I don't think it would do as well as the first REmake. The setting works against it for one. When it was originally release we didn't see very many zombie games at all, let alone ones set in dilapidated cities. Now you can't take two steps without running into one. It's a very different gaming climate we're stepping into here. The original REmake was such a success because its setting was still unique how many years later AND the actual boom of the zombie genre in videogames hadn't taken off just yet.
