TGS 2012 Breaks Attendance Record

by Jeff Marchiafava on Sep 24, 2012 at 11:30 AM

Westerners have questioned the continued relevance of Tokyo Game Show for years, but that hasn't stopped Japan's premier video game convention from growing. Today, the Computer Entertainment Supplier's Association announced that 223,752 visitors attended this year's convention, topping the former record of 222,668 attendees set last year.

While an extra 1,085 visitors isn't a huge increase, the first public day of the convention saw a more significant gain. Attendance on that day increased from 86,251 visitors last year to 94,989 visitors, a 9.2-percent increase.

The official announcement also revealed that Tokyo Game Show 2013 has already been scheduled, and will take place next year from September 19 to September 22. If you missed this year's show, you can get caught up with Ben Reeves' three days of sightseeing – but beware: it's a frightening glimpse into the way Ben's mind works.
