The lights are on
EA has officially announced the latest installment of the Dragon Age series, Dragon Age III: Inquisition. The game is due out in late 2013.
BioWare's Edmonton and Montreal studios are developing the game, using EA's Frostbite 2 engine. The game has been in development for two years.
“We’ve been poring over player feedback from past games and connecting directly with our fans," said Aaryn Flynn, general manager of BioWare Edmonton and BioWare Montreal. "They haven’t held back, so we’re not either. With Dragon Age 3: Inquisition, we want to give fans what they’re asking for – a great story with choices that matter, a massive world to explore, deep customization and combat that is both tactical and visceral.”
EA says the Dragon Age series has sold over eight million copies total, which makes this announcement all the more obvious. The was also word of a survey last month that included leaks about potential titles (including Inquisition), and an interview with BioWare CEO Ray Muzyka talking about plans for a then-hypothetical sequel. There's no word yet on what platforms the game is being developed for.
Are you looking forward to playing another game in the Dragon Age series?

Coolio. Didn't like one but the demo for two was good. Never actually played it though. Maybe this will encourage me to do so now.
I honestly cannot wait to hear more. Though in some respects DA2 was a disappointment, I still came away from it having enjoyed 40+ hours across numerous playthroughs. Though Bioware did make some mistakes with ME3, I loved nearly every aspect, and I once again finished with plenty of good memories. I look forward to hearing more.
With the information given I know this game is still far off . . . . So little to comment on, at least its good to know it will be more open like DA:O but look and feel smooth like DA:2. Although I hope its a little darker like DA:O just made the game feel more dramatic. CANT WAIT! (obviously in my top 5 ;P hee hee pic)
Cool, i'll be looking forward to it. I still have yet to finish origins, dagnabit. It's fun, though. It has a pretty good story and good characters. Although sometimes I wonder if 2 is really that bad. Guess i'll have to finish origins and play 2 to find out. Hopefully i'll get around to them before 3 comes out.
I can't wait!!!!! And late 2013 sounds like a great development cycle by then it'll be about 3 years according to this article.
So excited. DA2 was great, hope they keep all the good things about that game like the combat and story, and bring back some of the more tactical elements from DAO. My only complaint with DA2 was the difficulty. I felt the only way things got harder was more health, so all I was doing was sitting there attacking for an extra 20 mins on the hardest difficulty. Some changes there would be cool.
I couldn't really get into the Dragon Age franchise. I tried, but I just didn't find myself enjoying it.
oh no. not again. the franchise can't be saved!
The fact that this game will have multiplayer and has a stupid a$$ name, should be telling us to stay far far far far away from this and anything Bioware has to offer. Last time I checked RPGs dont need multiplayer (unless your name is Borderlands). I want to be excited for it - but I saw what they did to the Mass Effect series and what they did to DA2- not a good look for their future titles. And yes EA is mostly to blame.
Hey, if the game is in the vein of the original rather that that mess of a sequel, I'll pick it up.
Bazzzinga! So stoked for this game.
dispite the obvious over sights of DAII (wich i enjoyed)I am fully confidant in Bioware's ability to make good games, I must also say that i have been waiting for the next Dragon age game, the cliffhanger at the end of two lead to a vary nice story that i cant wait to explore.
Dragon Age wasn't as good as Origins. The story was pointless and the overall gameplay wasn't as engaging. Bioware has a lot of ground to make up.
