GameStop Closes Pre-Orders For Wii U Deluxe Set

Update: After opening up pre-orders for Nintendo's new console immediately after Thursday's press conference, GameStop has already filled its quota for the $349.99 bundle.

It looks like the Basic bundle is still available for pre-order.

Thanks to Mrs. Featherbottom for the news tip!

Want to lock in your preferred version of the new console?

On the heels of the release date announcement from Nintendo, GameStop has opened preorders for both versions of the Wii U. In addition, announced games including ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Call of Duty Black Ops II are also available.

The console can be ordered in one of two options. The Basic Set costs $299.99, and includes an 8 GB white Wii U and white Wii U GamePad. The Deluxe Set will run you $349.99, and it includes a 32 GB black Wii U, a black Wii U GamePad, GamePad Cradle, Wii U console stand, and pack-in title Nintendo Land.

GameStop is offering trade-in bonuses for any older game systems you're ready to get rid of, with additional trade-in value on each system trade for PowerUp Rewards members.

  • Got my pre-order in just in time apparently.
  • After today, you won't be able to reserve the basic bundle either. Gamestop could close pre-orders for the basic bundle at any point today.
  • Looks like I have to get the white one

  • Mine as well wait anyway. If Nintendo is smart they will do what Microsoft and Sony did. Start off by bringing out a couple choices at launch when it comes to the system (Memory/color...etc) Then they will end up bringing out a new version with tons more memory for the same price as the 32 gb one. I ended up getting a 320 gb PS3 for the same price as the older versions with less memory. I want a Wii U really bad but I'd rather wait til they give out a better bundle. Perhaps when they make the Wii U Super Mario Bros U bundle pack..(you know it will happen). But i'm excited to see what its going to be like once it hits stores.
  • I'm glad to see that they're selling out on pre-orders.  Good for Nintendo!  And, people said that the WiiU wouldn't even sell, that no one was interested in it.

  • I love new video game consoles. I was excited for everyone I got. It's fun to open but I hate reading the instructions lol. I hope the wiiU games look better than the trailers I've seen online. So far I'm not impressed; the graphics seem less impressive than PS3 and Xbox360. Am I right?
  • What's the graphics look like on the Gamepad? Can someone give me an idea by comparison? And is it HD, or close to that?
  • I did see the blackops3 trailer. Even then I wasn't impressed. Maybe it's cuz I watch it on my IPodtouch lol. Thanks for giving me hope for the system.
  • Apparently Best Buy has sold out too.

  • Lol no!  Didn't they say something about learning from their mistake with the 3DS?

  • Actually I've had an account for a while. I can't figure why I can't reply - I tap on "reply" and nothing happens. That's why I comment the normal way to respond.
  • I pre-ordered mine at Gamestop but then cancelled the order because Best Buy had free shipping. If Walmart does in-store pre-orders than I'll cancel my order with Best Buy since Walmart is near by and I can go pick it up Day 1. Walmart only has a $450 bundle online. Anybody know when/if Walmart will do the in-store preorders?????????
  • Brand new computers are fun to get too :P

  • Wow, with all the message posts from people saying they were never gonna buy a Wii U, I thought none would sell. Oh wait, I knew they would cause people like new stuff and the Wii U does have some cool lookin stuff. Never mind, I'm not surprised at all.
  • I pre-ordered the deluxe on Thursday, so I'm set :)
  • I call horsecrap about ending preorders for deluxe. A preorder is a preorder the world around and by limiting the amount of one thing is blasphemic and poor customer service. Now if it was because Nintendo is telling Gamestop to do so, that's fine. Otherwise, why the heck limit it? The same with the Mark of Mastery edition of KH3D. Limit Preorders = Lose money. 'nuff said. Anywho, that's my little ranty rage about it. I will report people who leave troll comments so keep it civilized.
  • awesmoe a pre-order for the WII U so what about the rewards can that do it for free are just $68?

  • Dang alot of people will be disappointed about that...
  • Went after work on thursday and preordered the black one. Extra 50$ nets so much more glad I did that. I worked for GameStop when the first Wii came out what hell that was
