GameStop Closes Pre-Orders For Wii U Deluxe Set

Update: After opening up pre-orders for Nintendo's new console immediately after Thursday's press conference, GameStop has already filled its quota for the $349.99 bundle.

It looks like the Basic bundle is still available for pre-order.

Want to lock in your preferred version of the new console?

On the heels of the release date announcement from Nintendo, GameStop has opened preorders for both versions of the Wii U. In addition, announced games including ZombiU, New Super Mario Bros. U, and Call of Duty Black Ops II are also available.

The console can be ordered in one of two options. The Basic Set costs $299.99, and includes an 8 GB white Wii U and white Wii U GamePad. The Deluxe Set will run you $349.99, and it includes a 32 GB black Wii U, a black Wii U GamePad, GamePad Cradle, Wii U console stand, and pack-in title Nintendo Land.

GameStop is offering trade-in bonuses for any older game systems you're ready to get rid of, with additional trade-in value on each system trade for PowerUp Rewards members.

I may consider trading in my Wii on one condition. I want to know if you will be able to play Wii games with the classic controller pro. If you can do that I will be playing my Wii games alot more. If not, I will be waiting for a Zelda or Metroid game to sell the system for me.

Can't afford either version right now, but when I do get one, it'll be the basic set since it's cheaper and I prefer the white Wii U over the black anyway.

Pre-ordered the deluxe at local gamestop w/ copy of ZombiU. What sold me on it was the TV service, the option for multi-platform games, and backwards compatibility. I will also be trading in my old Wii as there will be no reason at all to hang onto it.

I think I will be preordering this. It does seem like a pretty good console. I just hope the controllers last cause from what the Japanese conference, they are $180USD or something. So I think that would be a killer among some people. But seems like a good console, cant wait to get mine.

no thank you. I already have two current-gen systems (xbox 360 and ps3) so I def. don't need another NEW current gen system TYVM

when the new Metal Gear w/ Fox Engine, GTA5 and Uncharted 4 come out on the REAL next gens, all the Nintendo fanboys are gonna be wondering in the back of their minds(not aloud mind you, that would be blasphemy) why they paid $350 to play a current-gen version of Pikmin and Mario.

BTW, have fun playing all the great "new" games every gamer worth his salt finished months ago on already existent platforms.
