The lights are on
Mega Man is celebrating his 25th Anniversary this year, but that doesn't mean we will see a new Mega Man game or an announcement soon.
The quote below comes from Capcom's corporate officer Christian Svensson on the Capcom Unity blog message boards. In it, her says that there are events planned for the Blue Bomber turning 25, but basically don't get too excited.
"In December 'some but not all' plans for the coming year of celebrations will be shared. There are many moving parts and not everything will be done and final come December. No one has promised a game or even an announcement of one at that time. Please do keep expectations in check."
Thanks to Brian for the news tip!

Such a sad fate for the blue bomber.
At this point, I would rather that they say nothing at all about Megaman. We know how much Capcom hates him by now, statements like this are just rubbing salt in the wound.
"Please do keep expectations in check." is corporate speak for "we're going to half-ass some kind of release, but it most certainly won't be anything worth getting excited over."
Good Job, Capcom.
Screw you Capcom... you really know how to piss of the Mega Man fanbase.....
Consider my expectations checked. That said, I'd be lying if I said I wasn't hoping for a Mega Man Legends 3 revival. If nothing else, I'd take Mega Man 11 or even a downloadable HD remake of Mega Man X.
But like I said, I'm not holding my breath.
While I stopped caring about Capcom some time in the ealy 90's I have to say this anouncement is almost the equivelent of making a big, stinky fart and then leaving the room.
Just be silent and wait. In the end, it will either be Rockman online or nothing at all.
Don't worry Capcom, we're aware of your hatred for your own origional franchise that helped you become what you are today. We remember the fat, old Mega Man from Street Fighter X Tekken. We don't expect anything from you for his 25th birthday
If you expect Capcom to do anything good at this point your expectations are too high.
Capcom: Why don't YOU keep YOUR expectations in check.
Her says.
"Please do keep expectations in check." Sounds to me like they're saying "Chill the *** out. We're not going to give you what you want."
I'd like to see Mega Man Universe myself, but we know that's not gonna happen. Plus, Capcom would probably just make another version of the game after it launched with lots of add-ons, and charge an extra $40 for it.
Basically this is a "No, we're probably not going to make one."
go to hell capcom
Well, that is a bit disheartening. My enthusiasm for this upcoming event has definitely taken a steep dip from this comment.
