Capcom Warns Fans To "Keep Expectations In Check" For A New Mega Man Game

Mega Man is celebrating his 25th Anniversary this year, but that doesn't mean we will see a new Mega Man game or an announcement soon.

The quote below comes from Capcom's corporate officer Christian Svensson on the Capcom Unity blog message boards. In it, her says that there are events planned for the Blue Bomber turning 25, but basically don't get too excited.

"In December 'some but not all' plans for the coming year of celebrations will be shared. There are many moving parts and not everything will be done and final come December. No one has promised a game or even an announcement of one at that time. Please do keep expectations in check."

Thanks to Brian for the news tip!

  • I believe that is Coperate speak for "F You" if i am not mistaken.
  • Who's up for a 'liberate the Mega Man license from capcom' kickstarter?
  • "Keep expectations in check"? Sounds to me like they don't want to put in the work to make a game we deserve.

Edit: I would settle for a new collection.
  • Don't worry, Capcom, I've had my Mega Man expectations "in check" for nearly two decades.

  • Do we have any expectations anymore?

Judging from Nintendo's first attempts at honoring their heroes, I'm not looking too far into what Capcom intends.  It looks like the franchise has gone completely off the rails.

  • Breaking news: Capcom tells fans to keep rage/hate in check against Capcom for not making any more stinking Mega Man games since Haley's Comet's last visit. . .

  • Is anyone here not expecting a MML3 announcement at the end of the MML2 Super Replay?
  • Well at least they let us know. Here's hoping they announce "something".

  • guess we shouldn't expect anything except a lame trailer.....thanks Capcom you guys are Awesome.

  • Wow. A major money making, fan loved and classic franchise getting the hose from it's own company.  I don't expect a new game anytime soon but this makes it sound like Capcom is sick of the series.  "Keep expectation's in check" sounds like a scolding rather than an anniversary announcement.

  • Capcom is being very immature on the matter of Megaman, they are purposely releasing *** ports and horrible new titles to further drive the Blue Bomber into the ground and this is all because Keiji Inafune felt that his time with Capcom was set in stone and wanted to pave a new way... you are very immature on this matter Capcom and you deserve to be run through just like the franchise that started you.

  • To think at one point, we were getting MML3 and Mega Man Universe and now they say to keep expectations in check for ANY new title.
  • What the heck Crapcom??? You're screwing over Mega Man so much! Okay, I had enough of this crap!! Guys! Let's band together and free Mega Man from the prison Crapcom put him in! We gotta give him a proper owner. Crapcom is literally ruining this guy!

We. Gotta. Do. A. Fan. Made. Game!!!

  • Why is Capcom killing off Megaman? I honestly think that's what they're doing. Letting one of their most beloved franchises just slowly...die...off.....*starts crying*
  • *throws bananas at them*
  • capcoms disappointed people so much i dont care anymore

  • A new game would be the best way to celebrate Megaman 25th anniversary, Megaman Legends 3 would make everyone happy.

  • I understand that everybody is upset with Capcom over Mega Man and some terrible business practices, but I am not giving up on Capcom. With DMC and Lost Planet 3 coming out (both of which I have played via demo and are turning out to be great) as well as Remember Me, I am looking forward to playing more Capcom games in the future. Also, Resident Evil 6 and Okami HD are other titles I will buy as well.
  • Gamers: "Why can't you give us what we want?" Capcom: "Because f@€k you, that's why!"
  • For some reason I keep expected Capcom to finnally realese the game and make it a Gears of War clone, with bad puns, new enemies, no reference to prior media, and supposed gritty realism which we'll buy because it's megaman.
