Weekend Warrior 09/14/12

Borderlands 2 comes out next week. In preparation a lot of us are cleaning off our gaming plates. Time to finish games like Mark of the Ninja and Sleeping Dogs.

Tim Turi: I’m got my hands on an advance copy of Borderlands 2. This is going to drive most of you crazy, but I think instead of playing that game, tonight I’m going to have some drinks with friends and work on my Resident Evil 4 playthrough. After that I’ll play a bunch of Borderlands 2 as the Ninja character while peppering in some Mark of the Ninja and Rock Band Blitz.

Kyle Hilliard: I’ll be playing a game for review over the weekend, and we’re having a visitor from out of town. Our guest has a baby who is the same age as my daughter, so it’s going to be a house with 100% more baby in it than usual.

Ben Hanson: Magical games from the holiday season have started flowing into the office for review, but I hope to keep playing some of the games that I’ve committed to. I’m really enjoying Mark of the Ninja, so I hope to blast through a couple more hours this weekend. There is also Final Fantasy IV on the DS consuming my free time, I went in skeptical of the port but I think that it looks great and I love the circle-pad of the 3DS. That might be it, but we’ll see if I get swept away by some of the mysterious and unreleased games floating around here. Enjoy your weekend!

Kimberly Wallace: Since NHL 13 came out this past week, I'm devoting my weekend to it. I've already explored Be A GM mode, but now I'm finally ready to play against others online. It should be fun to see if people are check-heavy this season, since if they miss one, the consequences are greater than ever before. It makes me wonder if people will think before they check and play less aggressive. Guess there's only one way to find out!

Jeff Marchiafava: This weekend is my last chance to finish up Sleeping Dogs before Borderlands 2 takes over my life. There’s zero chance of me actually finishing it, but I’ve enjoyed the game way more than I thought I would. I also plan to play more of the excellent XBLIG title Gateways. If think you’d like a fun 2D Portal-esque puzzler, definitely check it out!

Jason Pfitzer: Tonight I am going to celebrate my brother's 5th year anniversary with his lovely wife at the Shout House Dueling Pianos, which has never been anything short of a fun time. Tomorrow I am going to the Minnesota Renaissance Festival in Shakopee, MN with some of my college buddies. As for Sunday, I'll more than likely just sit around and destroy people on cRPG.

  • Cant believe no one mentioned playing Black Mesa. That's what im gonna be doing, oh and try to finish off Transformers: Fall of Cybertron. Might give Darksiders 2 a quick blast at some point but I don't see me finishing it any time soon.
  • Homework, Kingdoms of Amalur and Suits. Maybe Black Mesa if I can get it downloaded.
  • I can finally use the Blue Blood Sword in Demon's Souls!! Get ready King Allant, cause I am going to destroy you(after 5 or 6 times)!!

  • Some college work, some Transformers: FoC, also trying to reach Trophy Level 17 on my PS3 (only 2% to go). Maybe watch my dad play some Dead Space and/or Mass Effect 2 (it's hard to watch him play the latter one).

  • Tying up loose Skyrim ends, probably some Forza 4 and Halo; Reach matchmaking. Also I'll probably be going to a college held The Price is Right thing.
I hate you Tim Turi. Playing Borderlands 2 early is a crime against gaming humanity to the rest of us and everyone knows Maya's where it's at.

  • Guild Wars 2 and Sleeping Dogs, the latter of which I hope to finish up this weekend.

I would go back to Darksiders 2 but I'm stuck at what seems to be a progress stopping bug so I flung it directly on the back burner where it will probably stay a while. The next two months are going to be Guild Wars 2 and Borderlands 2 and then the Wii-U drops and I will be getting AC3, Mario, FIFA13, and Rayman along with Halo 4 for my 360. I honestly don't see myself getting back to Darksiders 2 anytime soon. I was enjoyng it, just a shame about the bugs.

    Getting PUMPED for Borderlands 2!!!
  • Doing some homework, playing through Mass Effect 3 (Again), and wasting some hours into DayZ.

  • Well I was thinking I would beat Darksiders 2 but I may throw in the towel. INstead I'll be going to a football game, and playing some Hatsune Miku, and possible a little Devil Survivor 2

  • I wonder which GI staff member is reviewing Dishonored. Anyway its just The Binding of Issac for me plus some N64 smash bros/mario kart.
  • I am going to play some of the Jak and Daxter collection. Also, I might get the original MGS from PSN.
  • For whatever reason, I picked up Heavy Rain again and am quite enjoying it after not playing it for over a year. When I'm finished with that, I'll be continuing my journey in Persona 3 FES. I think I made a mistake getting my Social Link rank with Chihiro up so early in the school year and she kinda scares me...
  • I might actually take a break from video games this weekend. It looks like nonstop gaming for the majority of the fall so this might be the time to get some other stuff done. However, if I cave, I'll play something that wont suck me in for hours on end like Mark of the Ninja or Rock Band Blitz.

  • I'm sadly planning on studying this weekend. I might hop in on the Fall of Cybertron Double XP, though...
  • This week I'm gonna play some great older games. I'm gonna beat the Legend Of Zelda: Twilight Princess for the 50 billionth time, and play some Resident Evil 5 and Left 4 Dead 2.
  • I may play some Skyrim Dawnguard, Blacklight Tango Down or The Walking Dead.

  • I've been playing Snake Eater for the first time, I'll probably continue doing that.
  • Playing some Sound Shapes, Double Dragon and Scott Pilgrim with my son, Battlefield 3, and as always, looking forward to tomorrow's Replay.
  • Exciting weekend.

  • I'm trying to clear out as much of my backlog as possible before October rolls around. My strategy is to play a few shorter titles followed by one long one. I'll probably start on another longer game this weekend. Anyone feel like helping me choose bewteen RDR, KoA:R, or the first Witcher?

Edit: Thanks, guys. Looks like I'll be doing some witching this weekend.
  • Hopefully I can complete my Bioshock Trophy run, and maybe complete Bastion on iPad while I'm at it.
