Apple followers have been waiting for this day since the iPhone 4S was revealed last year and now it's finally here.

Here are the main points from Apple's press conference today:

iPhone 5

-$199 = 16GB. $299 = 32GB, $399 = 64GB

-Pre-orders begin Friday, September 14. Ships September 21

-iPhone 4 will be free on a cell contract. The 4S drops to $99 for 16GB

-Made of glass and aluminum and comes in black and white. White has silver aluminum back. Black has black aluminum back.

-Thinnest and lightest iPhone yet

-New 4-inch diagonal screen. Same width as the current iPhone, but taller. Now displays an extra horizontal row of apps on the home screen. Old apps designed for the current screen size will be letterboxed

-LTE 4G is supported by Sprint, At&T, Verizon

-A6 chip. Twice as fast CPU and graphics processing

-Real Racing 3 from Electronic Arts will support it out of the gate featuring "time-shifted" multiplayer. It's like racing a friend's ghost, but you can still bump into them and wreck their times.

-Longer battery life than the 4S

-8-megapixel camera with a new dynamic low light mode. 40 percent faster image capture. Shared photo streams. Official panorama photo taking feature

-Front-facing camera now 720p. Facetime now works over cell networks instead of just wifi

-Will include three microphones. Front, bottom, and back. Will result in better voice recognition and noise cancellation

-New connector called Lightning replaces current 30-pin connector. It's all digital, 8-pin, and can plug in any way you want. There will be adaptors for current accessories

-iOS 6 releases September 19 for most current iOS devices

-New headphones called Earpods are included. Redesigned based on hundreds of ear scans.
