Re-Volt Coming To iOS

Re-Volt, the Dreamcast, PlayStation, and Nintendo 64 racer is coming to iOS devices in the next few weeks.

Nick Baynes, studio head at app developer Big Bit, replied to a tweet asking about favorite Dreamcast games saying, "Anyone that says Re-Volt should watch the App Store over the next couple of weeks...." On Big Bit's site, there is also a coming soon image that is clearly from Re-Volt's box art.

I never played Re-Volt myself, but I imagine there are some people out there excited about revisiting the game.

  • Hey Replay and nostalgic game fans visit my blog! I have one called "revisited" which is a written replay! Thank you for your support!

  • Never heard of it. Anyone care to clue me in?
  • This is a game where you race RC Cars in various enviroments. Very "meh" if you ask me but it seems to have a fanbase.

  • God I loved that game. I played through it again about a year ago, the graphics hold up surprisingly well. I wish Steam would offer PC games from the 90s, I would spend so much money.
  • I remember this one, but I was playing the PC version. Take SNES MicroMachines, make it in 3D and scale up from rooms and pools to backyards, museums and beaches and you have a basic concept (as far as I remember). I've played for few days but it was really hard to steer properly without gamepad.

  • I love Re-volt.

    I've played it at least 80 h.

    edit: the pc version
  • i was a fun game on the PlayStation, me and my friends would have some fun with the track creator and i remember the made up sounding things that it said it was downloading like Fippery

  • Man, I remember playing this on the PC, was a great game!

  • I don't know who Big Bit is, but I'm glad someone is doing something with the old Acclaim library. FINALLY. I remember some company I never heard of called Razorback or Throwback or something bought the rights to Re-Volt, Vexx, Shadowman and other Acclaim games, announced intent to re-release these games digitally, than did absolutely nothing. And Disney bought the Turok brand, made one game, and did nothing besides close the studio that made it. Acclaim has some great IP. It's good to see SOME of it come back. Re-Volt was a pretty awesome racer for the Dreamcast (and it was really good looking on the N64 too). It's good that it's back. And man, Big Bit... if you brought back Vexx, I'd love you forever. Super underrated platformer. And while the game didn't have the personality of something like Ratchet & Clank or Sly Cooper or Jak & Daxter, mechanically/design-wise it was one of the best platformers of the generation.
  • I played Re-Volt and I'm not excited.  I remember it being neat on paper but disappointed by the PS version.  Granted, 13 years later it might be upgraded and pretty cool.

  • The only thing I like about Re-Volt is the title of the game. Haha just kidding. This is awesome. Dreamcast... Ahhh... brings back memories.

  • Ha I remember when G.I. reviewed this game, one of the editors called it "Re-Volting".

  • The music in this game was amazing.

  • Proud to still have my PS1 copy!

  • I played the heck out this game on my ps1!

  • If it's free I'd play it.
