The lights are on
Gaming's most famous face has graced our cover on a few occasions, but it's been 16 years since our cover story has focused on one of his adventures. We recently had the chance to visit Nintendo of America to play New Super Mario Bros. U, but that's not all we did at the studio. In addition to our ten-page Mario cover story (featuring an interview with legendary designers Shigeru Miyamoto and Takashi Tezuka), we also have an extensive feature that will prepare you for the impending launch of the Wii U.
We'll also have plenty of non-Nintendo news, including features on Halo 4's Prometheans and the first three hours of XCOM: Enemy Unknown. To kick off the holiday review season, you can also read our thoughts on one of the year's biggest releases, Borderlands 2. Can Gearbox's massive sequel live up to the original? Find out in our October issue, which should be hitting print subscribers near September 10th and digital PC/Mac subscribers on September 11th.
The 10" tablet edition will go live later today, so download the free app for iPad and Android now. To subscribe to Game Informer Digital or convert your current print subscription through us head here. Getting your GI Digital Subscription through us gives you access to the 10" Android, iPad, and PC/Mac editions of the magazine. Otherwise, you can purchase individual issues or subscriptions through the appropriate apps.

Super Mario 238. Comes with lap warming device.
Dissapointed with NSMB2, a game I knew I was going to be dissappointed with (is there 1 or 2 "s's"?) but if U reinvents NSMB, then do it! I swear to Rosalina, though, if they rip songs directly from NSMBW again without changing them whatsoever, me and all the bomb boos from Ghostly Galaxy will have a word with Nintendo.
The cover looks really great, very colorful and energetic. I am interested on the launch details of the Wii U. I want to know if it is worth getting at launch.
sweet its rare to get a nintendo game as cover story if i recall too gratz ^^
Can't wait to get this game, definitely one of the reasons I'm picking up a Wii U.
By the way, the magazine cover's design is awesome!
I can't wait for the Wii U!!! It's gonna be amazing!
Why do I feel like I have played this one before?
Nice cover. I'm happy to see Nintendo advertising their games in other publications, especially now that Nintendo Power is finished. I can't wait for some more Wii U coverage
This makes up for the previous super ugly cover. Looking forward to the magazine as always.
Eh, it's Mario. Of course everyone will be excited!
I don't understand this cover, from the 10 seconds i saw from the clip, it looks like more of the same just better graphics.
Definitely looking forward to reading more about the Wii U.
Gorgeous cover. Can't help but yearn for an HD Super Mario Galaxy 3 though.
Back to basics. This is good
It's like the 90s all over again! I never thought I'd see the day.
