Rumor: Wii U Zelda Out In 2014

2014 may seem like a long ways away, but if this newest info on the Wii U's Zelda title is correct, Nintendo's working hard to make it worth the wait.

According to a Wii U Daily source, the Wii U's Zelda title isn't expected until 2014, although work on the game began back in 2010. Eiji Aonuma is once again heading up the project, and the team he's assembled is huge.

The game was originally intended to come out in 2013, but this target was quickly changed.

According to the source, this Zelda's dungeons are massive, the game won't have multiplayer (apart from MiiUniverse functionality), and it utilizes the console's GamePad to such an extent that the game itself influenced the design of the controller. An early, lone test dungeon was "bigger than the Hyrule Field in Ocarina," said the source.

  • Wow, that is a big dungeon
  • HD ZELDA XD!!!!!
  • Can't wait for a new Zelda.  A game with dungeons that big... That'll be fun.

  • I'm happy with Nintendo's decision to keep making these games longer every iteration. The article also mentioned it will take "hours to complete" just a single dungeon. Excited!

  • I'm surprised Nintendo is giving us any info on Zelda. I cannot wait to play this game.
  • ***-the-bed-son! That is one hell of a dungeon size increase... i wonder how big the overworld will be!
  • Voices for npc's please? Otherwise, cool beans.
  • I would buy a wii u if this game came out.

  • I am happy that they aren't going to make us wait another 6 years for another Zelda! I really like Skyward Sword despite some flaws that pretty much had everything to do with the hit and miss controls. A big HD Zelda...build it and they will come.
  • This game sounds like it's going to be MASSIVE!!!!

  • Wow, bad move. Nintendo is going to pull the same thing they did with the gamecube demo!? Don't they remember the flack they got for that? Was it really impossible to make a Zelda as amazing looking as the wiiU demo? That would have scored with the hardcore crowd like they claim to be trying so hard to do. That said, the dungeon size sounds nice, but I doubt the final product will have that. All they've been doing is making things increasingly smaller and more simple. If the finish game does have dungeons like that, at least I will enjoy it, regardless of the kiddy art style.
  • I'll buy it day one. Nintendo hasn't failed to deliver a great Zelda game yet.

  • Sounds awesome. Day one buy for me, but then again, every Zelda is for me

  • This news alone is probably going to move some systems off the shelves...
  • Please be true. Please be true. PLEASE BE TRUE! This would definitely be a day one purchase for me! Also, it sounds like a HUGE, fun game!

  • so a company tailored their risk-taking controller to a specific game...let's see how that works out for third party support for them like the Wii...oh wait..
  • I don't know how I feel about that big of a dungeon, it got tiresome after a while running around Hyrule Field. Too bad it won't look like that tech demo, that was really cool looking and I was excited for them to go back to OOT/MM/TP art style.
  • Oh...friggin...god...this game will take forever to beat if the dungeons are that long.

  • be right back im going wring out my underwear.
