The lights are on
Update: Sony has confirmed that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be a PlayStation 3 title and the trailer for the game indicates that it will also release for Xbox 360. Presumably, the game will also release on PC, since that is the platform the game was demoed on. Check out the trailer for the game by clicking here.
At PAX 2012, Konami and Hideo Kojima revealed that Metal Gear Solid: Ground Zeroes will be a prologue, and will release for PlayStation 3.
Konami isn't calling the game Metal Gear Solid 5, and it isn't ready to commit to any platforms. However, the game is running on a PC with specs similar to current generation consoles. Keep an eye on our website as the trailer for the game should be available online in about an hour.
According to Konami's Twitter account, the FOX Engine which is being used for Ground Zeroes, could be used to support other Konami titles like Silent Hill.

I really wish it was about the relationship between Snake and The Boss. I'd think that'd be really interesting but the technology at that time probably wouldn't make it easy for sneaking missions. I don't know what it'd be a prologue to, but I'm guessing it takes place shortly before Metal Gear.
Sweet. Hopefully it's not just for PS3 but if it is then that's cool.
As a lover of games, this news is sad. Luckily I own a PS3.
I kinda hope this is another game with Big Boss, leading on from MGS 3 and Peacewalker. It's supposed to be in the 80's right?
It would be nice if they kept FOX Engine in the Konami family. Sort of have all their teams - which, let's face it, is basically only Mercury Steam, Vatra and Kojima Productions at this point, and Mercurysteam is still technically an independent studio (they're just very close to Konami at the moment) - bounce experience and knowledge off of each other.
It would be nice to see Konami staff up their development arm once again though. I miss the days of "Team Silent" and "Team Suikoden" and whatnot. Heck, I miss the days when they had all those teams pumping out sidescrollers like Sparkster, Tiny Toons: Buster Bust Loose, Contra 3, Super Castlevania IV and Batman Returns. Konami needs more developers. Especially moving forward into the NEXT generation of consoles. It's good they're getting their engineering done now, and that FOX engine is looking so good.
Well, I've got a PS3 sitting pretty on the shelf, so exclusive or not. . . holy @!$% this is awesome!!! Can't wait for it! Hard to believe MGS4 was so many years ago. . .
Let it go, my son. I'm not here to fight.
