The lights are on
In a somewhat cryptic posting on the official Dawnguard message boards, Bethesda said that the technical issue preventing Dawnguard on PlayStation 3, "is not a problem we’re positive we can solve." Here's the full statement:
It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where
we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that
requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when
you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a
number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make
Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're
working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is
obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues
of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re
positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to
bring you this content.
We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the
frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms.
When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply
appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep
doing our best to return that.
It's not a flat-out "no" in regards to Dawnguard and future DLC appearing on PlayStation 3, but it's not looking good.

Looks like I'll be buying future Bethesda games used and on Xbox 360 instead...
Well, i'm disappointed, but hey, they're only human. If you can't figure it out then I say offer something new. But, this is a great excuse to buy it for PC!
So let me get this straight Bethesda has trouble making a open world sigleplayer game run smoothly on the PS3 and has trouble porting a piece of DLC but Ubisoft can make Far Cry 3 a game which is also open world (an archipelago at that), with coop, multiplayer, map editor and who knows what else look amazing on the PS3, I know they're different engines but there's the problem the engine it self if Bethesda knows that that engine doesn't work well with the PS3 than why do they keep using it? I'm glad I sold my copy of Skyrim (after getting tired of doing the same stuff every playthrough) and I won't be buying it back until we get a good DLC on PS3 that works well and isn't broken.
What. The. Hell.
ITT: Gamers who claim to know Skyrim's Code better than Bethesda tell them how to do their job. Keep it up. Youre surely going to speed up their work. I mean it isnt like Microsoft is paying them so much that they dont even need to port it to PS3.
Ah, well I'm really glad I'm sticking to my policy of not buying Bethesda games until all of the DLC and patches are released. If Dawnguard isn't coming out for PS3 I'll be saving a good chunk of money.
This whole Skyrim PS3 fiasco has really pissed me off. If Dawnguard doesn't come to PS3, like how a bunch of DLC for Oblivion didn't come to PS3, count me out as a Bethesda supporter. If I were to ever buy any of there games again, it'd be used so they don't see any of my money. Fix it Bethesda, or risk pissing off a lot more gamers than just me.
This made me so happy i dont have a ps3
So... in other words, it's probably not coming, and future DLC on the PS3 seems unlikely as well. Okay... I didn't have too much of a problem with the launch of Skyrim on PS3. It was buggy, sure, but I've come to expect that with Beth games on any platform. But not releasing DLC at all is too much. They really need to get it together and figure out the PS3 hardware. I swear, if other devs can do it, so can beth. I realize that their games are different, but if they're going to release it on PS3, they need to figure out how not to completely gimp their own game. Sigh... at least this will probably be the last Bethesda developed game on the PS3, so hopefully they will have their crap together when it comes to the PS4.
Come on Bethesda! Are you saying all this time you have not decided to learn the PS3's architecture and utilize it? I am disappointed, I thought Bethesda was smarter than this.
Ok, so just give PS3 it's own exclusive DLC that does work. Then everyone else will know how we feel.
Damn. I really hope Bethesda are able to fix 'secret problem X,' as they have worked diligently to repair the PS3 experience elsewhere. Slowly yes, but they have ironed out the problems, but if they aren't able to live up to their status as a multiplatform developer, well, I'll understand all the disgruntled PS3 gamers from there on out. Because I'll be one of them. :(
