The lights are on
In a somewhat cryptic posting on the official Dawnguard message boards, Bethesda said that the technical issue preventing Dawnguard on PlayStation 3, "is not a problem we’re positive we can solve." Here's the full statement:
It's been a few weeks, and we wanted to make sure everyone knows where
we're at with Dawnguard. Skyrim is a massive and dynamic game that
requires a lot of resources, and things get much more complex when
you're talking about sizable content like Dawnguard. We have tried a
number of things, but none of them solve the issue enough to make
Dawnguard good for everyone. The PS3 is a powerful system, and we're
working hard to deliver the content you guys want. Dawnguard is
obviously not the only DLC we’ve been working on either, so the issues
of adding content get even more complicated. This is not a problem we’re
positive we can solve, but we are working together with Sony to try to
bring you this content.
We wish we had a more definitive answer right now. We understand the
frustration when the same content is not available on all platforms.
When we have an update, we will certainly let you know. We deeply
appreciate all the time and support you have given us, and we’ll keep
doing our best to return that.
It's not a flat-out "no" in regards to Dawnguard and future DLC appearing on PlayStation 3, but it's not looking good.

i fail to see how 10 more hour of content is so hard to add to the game on ps3... its not like the shivering isles
Wow. That sucks.
That's unfortunate. It's really good.
Sorry to hear it PS3 owners - in this day and age, the handling of the PS3 version has been a flat out embarassing affair.
Well, that really sucks.
This cracks me up.
Because according to individuals I know who work in the industry, the only issue that really signifies a difference between the consoles and putting games out for them is the coding. I have been told by developers/designers that it is easier to port/recode from Xbox to PS3 than it is to do the same from PS3 to Xbox, so if this IS the case, then I don't understand where the issue is in this process.
There is not a substantial enough difference that I know of in the processing power of both machines to warrant this kind of "hiccup."
That said, as soon as I sell my current version of Skyrim (since Borderlands 2 is just around the corner), I highly doubt - based on this news - that I will purchase the GOTY edition when (if?) it comes out on PS3.
To say that I am disappointed is an understatement.
This is just unfortunate. Being a huge fan of skyrim, I can't help but feel a little let down by them on my PS3. It's been one problem after another, and it's becoming obvious that sony wasn't Bethesda's first concern remotely.
Well dawngaurd wasn't that good on Xbox so Ps3 owners may feel left out but it's not that great.
well I have been watching this crap go on for a while, and while it is upsetting I would still like to play this expansion due to the add-in of the werewolf tree and the dragon weapons. However my boyfriend who purchased skyrim at the same time as I did is now so thouroughly disgusted with bethesda's treatment of the PS3 he has now denounced the game entirely. My point being waiting this long to give any new only to give news this bad at the end is losing bethesda their customers. This does not bode well for bethesda, any future content they release for skyrim, any games they release after skyrim, and even though its going to be for the PC and is being developed by zenimax, this will likely hurt TESO in the end as well.
Hopefully they'll give it to us for free considering all the delays.
