The lights are on
Epic Games and developer People Can Fly are adding a new multiplayer mode to Gears of War: Judgment called Free-For-All.
As you would expect by the name, this multiplayer mode ditches team tactics in favor of sheer personal survival. The mode is playable at PAX Prime this week, with two maps on display (description direct from Microsoft/Epic):
GONDOLA - The Coastal Villa Apartments are part of the exclusive Halvo community located in the prestigious Agora foothills. Residents enjoy a host of interior upgrades, and each unit features an ocean view from a private patio or balcony. This quiet, gated community is located only a short gondola ride from the renowned shops and businesses of our active and thriving coastal community.
LIBRARY - The Alexiy Desipich Memorial Library is not a library in the traditional sense, but rather an archive of important documents surrounding his life, career, and personal interests. An avid historian, politician, and philosopher, Desipich is most remembered as the father and creator of the Austere Canon, the basis for the Coalition of Ordered Governments, which was shaped around eight guiding principles: Order, Diligence, Purity, Labor, Honor, Loyalty, Faith, and Humility.
Gears of War: Judgment comes out on March 19. For more info on the game, check out our cover story hub.

This game looks pretty awesome. Unfortunately, I don't have an Xbox, but I was able to beat the first and second Gears of War games, and I thought they were fantastic! I hope all of you who have an xbox enjoy this game, it's a keeper :)
Free-for-all in GOW? Sweet!
Sweet.
Hmm...I'm kind of over Gears of War. Besides, there are too many other games coming out in March that I want.
Pretty cool. I'm going to fail miserably in this mode, though.
Cool this should be interesting. Gears is always known for team play, but Free for All? I can't wait.
Yeah I won't be playing it but if it brings more people into Gears then it's fine with me
Not really a necessary mode for Gears of War in my opinion. The multiplayer for GOW has always been about having fun with friends and teamwork. I just don't see the appeal, but it's good that free for all is still an option for those that want it. Nothing wrong with game mode variety.
I always seen Gears of War combat rather sluggish and more tactics based, so free-for-all may be interesting seeing as that game type works best with more twitchy shooters.
Seems like a good game for when my cousin comes over and we're looking for a co-op game to play...
Free for all modes are usually pretty insane, I'm sure this will be no different.
