Fan-Made Super Mario Galaxy 2.5 In The Works

A group of Super Mario Galaxy fans discontent with the existence of only two Galaxy titles, has decided to take matters into their own hands.

You can find out more about the project, and even download a demo for its work in progress title by heading to this website. Apparently the project still has a ways to go. In the trailer below, they put out a call for all manner of game designer that can help with the project.

I imagine with this sort of passion project you can count on it releasing basically when it's done, which could be anytime.

  • I get the odd feeling it won't be as good as 1&2...
  • This is licensed?
  • I kinda don't get this. It's not like Galaxy 1 and 2 were letdowns in any way.
  • I will take it! Now how can i give my dads credit card number to the dev.?

  • Neat, but it can't beat Streets of Rage Remake as far as fanmade stuff goes.

  • The video is HD! That's promising
  • Nope.
  • With such passionate people putting time into such projects, it makes me wonder: Why hasn't anyone made a good Avatar The Last Airbender/ Legend of Korra game. I guess it is up to me now... I don't know how to do game design, but I can write the story.... Anyway, It's cool that they are making this, I wish the very best for these incredibly passionate gamers!
  • Wonder how they made this? And how will this not make Nintendo upset?
  • Oh heeeeeell yes!

  • They might be onto something more here...Imagine Nintendo made a Mario game where you design the levels. Mariocraft! That's where it's at. Of course Mojang won't like that so they could call it Mario Universe: Intelligent Design...Either way it's a million dollar baby...
  • i like how they remade the level from mario 64 is looks great
  • I saw level one of Super Mario 64 in there.  I'm sold :)

  • Well, I suppose Nintendo will be okay with it, so long as they aren't distributing the original games, or making money off of this. But, then again, what do I know about laws?
  • For those who are curious, this has already been done with the New Super Mario Bros. There was a "sequel" of sorts made by fans and acts as more of a mod than a real game (made new levels, power-ups and also upped the overall difficulty of the game). This game is falling in line with that same concept. As to how much it's actually allowed, they definitely aren't allowed to charge to play. But chances are it requires a modded Wii to play which is enough of a no in Nintendo's eyes.

  • For fanmade, this looks beyond amazing, authentic even.

I was mad at some shape company earlier, but...Mario made me forget.

    I want this.

  • Oh my God, yes. I've been dying to play more Galaxy. I might have to check this out.

  • Watch Rosalina not be in...did I even see a Luma? (well, there were Star bunnies, and at the very least, the star bunnies in the gateway turned out to be Lumas.) I'm probably not in...every Mario game needs stone poltergeists, cmon! But Bob-Omb Batllefield? YES!!!
  • If I had the time and wasn't still in school I would definitely try to join as a level designer! I wish these guys luck! P.S. Yeah, I am only in highschool but I am trying to become a game designer, specifically level design.
  • I have my fingers crossed that nintendo does not cese or disist this.
