The lights are on
Update: Square Enix confirmed a new version of The World Ends With You for iPhone and iPad. It has HD art, a new combat system, and new songs and remixes. It hits the Apple App store tomorrow in Japan and is priced at $18 for the iPhone version and $20 for iPad. No word yet on a release in North America.
Head over to the official website to see more and check out the Japanese trailer below.
Original Story: Square Enix's mysterious countdown timer reveal seems to have been spoiled early. A new listing on the publisher's e-shop store in Japan revealed a new release of the game's soundtrack as well as an iOS port, according to reports.
The description of the iOS version has been removed since being discovered yesterday. According to Andrisang, the port includes new music, which is also available on the soundtrack.
The countdown timer ends tomorrow morning. We'll update this story if there are more details.
the world will end when i switch to ios lol
I like the double entendre of the headline (and gameplayer3087 has ninja'd me to the reference)
So, I guess that means I'd better not come to iOS. :-p
Square just trolled me hard! Fans are willing to pay more than $20 for a sequel Square! (But at least make a port to the 3ds, I really enjoyed to dual screen gameplay and like the new features, songs, and artwork, but putting it on an IOS seems such a waste.
Its as if SE is taking IOS customers for fools.
That trailer lacks the charm of the DS version. The new art looks weird compared to the original and the lack of seeing your partner won't make it feel like they're teaming up with you. And the Calling remix has nothing on the original. Please just get the DS version.
looks like a cool game :D (like the sound track)
Hmm. I might consider getting this. I only have one problem, though. This games has got to take up a TON of space on my iPod! I am getting very limited when it comes to space, so, if i'm going to get this, I know i'll have to be Sonic 4 episode 2 first (that thing takes up 600mb!).
If this comes stateside, this will be my first real game for iOS! I tend to play only solitaire or memory matching games on my iPod. The gameplay interface looks really interesting as compared to the DS play design. Whether there are any real changes to the narrative remains to be seen. Maybe this is a test game to feel out demand for a fully new TWEWY title? Neku, wherever you go... I shall follow...
I'd get it (if my iPod hadn't broken) but $18 is WAY to expensive for an iOS game. That's *** ridiculous.
Why on earth would they bother with this crap when they should be putting all the effort into making a sequel?
.....I can't believe this...
So I guess there won't be a sequel? That stinks. I haven't played the game, so I will probably get it on my DS. Although I might get the iOS version later on, depending on how well it is ported to the iOS. Still it is upsetting that they have this hyped up with a countdown that usually means something of greater significance.
