The lights are on
Dark Souls for PC ships with a fixed rendering resolution of 1024x720. One modder fixed that. NeoGAF user Durante released a mod shortly after the game's release today that enables a higher internal rendering resolution.
So far, everything seems to be gravy. Dark Souls never looked better! Durante offers this warning, though:
So far, this has only been tested on my computer, on the first half hour or so of the game. I can not and will not guarantee that it will work for anyone else, or not have any adverse effect on your game/computer. Use at your own risk! If you encounter any issues that seem like they could be caused by DSfix, let me know.
Check out Durante's website below for installation instructions.
Look for our review sometime next week.
I love the PC
I went from waiting for a Steam sale to ordering it now. It's sad that modders need to do this kind of thing. Modders should be concentrating on extra content not fixing basic issues.
Just started getting into Dark Souls (on PS3 though), and I'm loving it so far. Even in 720p the game still looks great, but the idea of playing in 1080 sounds all the better.
Screw this game. Controllers work fine, but Dark Souls itself doesn't recognize them -_-
Guess I need to wait for a modder to get that sorted out, too.
Not exactly as excited about this as I was when it was announced, the later discovery of a literal barebones port and terrible keyboard/mouse controls turned me off. Then you have this whole basic PC graphic changes (resolution) not being done by from Software.
Apparently they didnt even change the tutorials and such to account for people using mouse/keyboard so it's tell you to press Y or B to do "x". It does work with the 360 controller but other gamepads will have to get a 360 emulator working with them for the game to recognize.
With Guild Wars 2 going live for early access in 10ish or less hours. I have no reason to buy this before the modders work everything out.
It came out for PC yesterday...
Dark Souls is awesome.
So long as the integrity of the game remains intact, and no text boxes pop up in game, and it retains it's feeling of "alone-ness" I'm game with whatever mods come out for it.
