The lights are on
According to an unidentified source from Sony, PlayStation 4 (or whatever the next Sony console will be called) will support 4K resolution, which is the next advancement in television visual quality.
The supposed idea behind PlayStation 4's compatibility with the next wave of high-definition televisions, is to entice consumers to upgrade their home entertainment systems. Sony tried the same thing by pushing 3D as hard as it could, but the technology never seemed to find its footing. Sony is already selling Blu-ray players that support 4K resolution, so it wouldn't be too surprising to learn that the next PlayStation would contain similar technology.

That's nothing. As a PC gamer on an NVIDIA Surround system, I'm already playing ALL my games at a resolution of 5760x1200.
This makes a lot of sense, a lot of people (consumers and manufacturers) seem disinterested with 2K and there have been more and more products coming out that are related to 4K resolution. I'm predicting that most people will still be rocking their 1080p set when the "PS4" comes out, but the HDMI 1.4 (current gen is 1.4a) specs already support resolutions from SD up to 4K. It would be cool if all 4K TVs came with 3D support by default, but I think they are likely doing all they can to push all of those pixels.
I don't think there is anything wrong with 3D. You're crazy if you don't think 3D is cool. How many people out there want the closest possible experience to virtual reality? Hands? When the price drops and everyone has access to 3D televisions THEN people will realize how much they love it.
The next generation is coming, its only a matter of time. I would guess one of them might be announced at the VGA's or soon after.
really PlayStation 4 see new
Soon we'll be seeing TV and video games in resolution better than the human eye can process...and people will collapse from seizures brought on by an image that is "too real". ELECTRIC PORYGON SOLDIER TIMES A THOUSAND!
They also promised dual display native 1080p support for the PS3 before release. Look how that turned out. It's only rumor though. I'm sure the PS4 will be a very good console.
That would be amazing but I wonder how many games would actually use it.
I'd be surprised (and rather upset) if any the new consoles didn't support 4k, or aren't capable of being adapted to even higher resolutions.
