Swery Talks Deadly Premonition Future

by Andrew Reiner on Aug 20, 2012 at 06:00 PM

One of this generation's strangest and most beloved cult hits may get a sequel.

In an interview with Eurogamer, Deadly Premonition designer Hidetaka "Swery" Suehiro says his team at Access Games is working on a new project that should be revealed by next summer.

While no concrete hints were dropped as to what this next game could be, Swery did talk about what he'd like to do with a Deadly Premonition sequel. And it doesn't just sound like wishful thinking on his part. He's discussing it with the team.

"I meet once a month with the producer of Deadly Premonition and we talk about various things," he said. "There are things I've come up with the producer has said no to. I suggested Deadly Premonition 2 should be as though Deadly Premonition 1 had never existed. I wanted to do everything from scratch, but the producer said I couldn't do that. So, for example, like with Spider-Man, you've got Spider-Man and the Amazing Spider-Man, so the same series but a different world. I wanted to do something like that but was told no. The producer said the fans love York, and so I have to carry on with him as the protagonist."

To coincide with Access Games' 10th anniversary, a Director's Cut of Deadly Premonition is in the works and should be released this year. Swery says this version could include new scenarios.
