Unlock Four Bonus Boss Quests In Darksiders II

A friendly skirmish produces a great reward.

Thane, the gigantic, bearded trainer at The Forge, teaches Death new attacks, and always wants to spar. If you best him in battle, he reveals the location of four beasts as four separate side quests.

Although you can challenge Thane early in the game, you stand little chance against him. Quest for a few hours, and return to him when you reach level four or five. Your weapons deal plenty of damage at this point. The battle ends if Thane hits you a few times. Don't go right at him. Wait for him to attack, and then dodge and counter. Repeat this process until you drain three-quarters of his life. At this point, he'll end the fight and fill you in on the four beasts. Your targets are Bheithir, Gorewood, The Deposed King, and Achidna. Each of these bosses drops a unique weapon.

As readers are pointing out, you may run into these beasts prior to defeating Thane. However, with Thane's help, the location of each beast appears on the map and can be made an active quest. To do this, go into the map screen and access the Toggle Quest Display menu to choose your quest. Since these bosses are high in level, most of them don't appear on the first map. Just make a mental note to check your quests whenever you reach a new zone.

  • Who won the contest?
  • I thought contest results would be posted today.

  • I love how you actually just posted this from your house, thats really cool.
  • I was wondering what would happen when you defeat him! I almost challenged him yesterday but decided not to because I was worried I might kill him and lose a shop.
  • where is the contest?

  • Staff
Kim is handling the contest. Winners won't be reported here, folks.
  • This is actually false all of these bosses are available without having to duel him, the quests to take them down are tied to defeating him in a duel. I found Gorewood while exploring and took him down before I defeated Thane.

Also one of these bosses is encountered doing the main story
  • Well thank you for that tip, once I jump into this game I'll make sure to wail on him.
  • Beat him at level 3 woot woot, my finger hurt from pressing the right bumper so much..(or button depending on who you ask)

  • You can fight them or at least Gorewood before you beat Thane. I found Gorewood and fought him a couple times before fighting Thane and beating him.
  • hah! I tried fighting him very early and I got RAPED! :P

  • Great I'll remember this if I ever get the cash to pick this up

  • Well, gotta wait till I get Wii U version.
  • I haven't completed the side quests yet but he was pretty easy actually. I beat him at lvl 2 or 3 I just kept dodging and pounding on him and when he gets to around half life he does a ranged move 3 times that u just have to dodge 3 times then he goes back to doing the same thing. Just listen for when he makes some kinda taunt.
  • Beat him as soon as I meet him.
  • I unlocked Reaper mode for beating him. ._. That happen to anyone else?
  • Guys, just as a tip, you have to do the Belithir boss after you make significant progress in the main story. you have to unlock the gauntlets.
  • Very cool! Great little easter egg.
