Epic Buys Gears of War: Judgment Dev

Epic Games revealed it has purchased developer People Can Fly. The company previously held a majority stake, but now the studio is a wholly owned subsidiary. People Can Fly is currently working on Gears of War: Judgment, due out this coming March for Xbox 360.

"We doubled down on People Can Fly," Epic Games VP Mark Rein told Polygon. "It was something we always hoped to do." The purchase led to the departures of key developers Adrian Chmielarz, Andrzej Poznanski and Michal Kosieradzki last week. Epic also saw long-time producer Rod Fergusson leave to work at Irrational Games on BioShock Infinite.

Epic also recently announced its newly-formed Baltimore studio has been named Impossible Studios.

  • Huh. I thought Epic owned PCF already.
  • I thought they already had...

  • Hope they dont change the devs name.
  • Huh, I figured they already owned them.

  • I just want a bulletstorm 2 :(
  • I just want a bulletstorm 2 :(
  • Not sure if this is good for the developers themselves. Maybe it will give them more opportunities... Or maybe they will have to make Gears of War games for Epic. Not that I am complaining too much, Gears of war is one of the best Xbox series in my opinion.

  • I heard that the devs which left PCF will still be working with Epic games.

  • sweet

  • Mod
EA sinks its claws in yet another developer.
  • Bulletstorm sequel, please. C'mon, I asked all nice and crap.
  • peepoop

  • That's why those 3 guys left.

  • That clarifies things. I hope they can still make Bulletstorm 2.

  • Epic is currently in a shopping spree...

  • So that's why they left.  Didn't want to work for "the man."

  • Lot of moves going on in epic these days.

  • About time Epic bought them, hopefully we get bulletstorm 2 now.

  • About time!  The large-scale Unreal Engine developer Epic Games has been clinging to closely to People Can Fly for far too long.  I mean, sure, I love People Can Fly, but I'm glad Epic bought out the developer.
