The lights are on
Saving Earth and stopping the Reapers didn't seem appealing for most gamers it seems. In its five months since release, BioWare says 42 percent of players actually finished Mass Effect 3.
BioWare online development director Fernando Melo revealed the data during a talk at GDC Europe today, as reported by Eurogamer. The completion rate is actually down from Mass Effect 2, which saw 56 percent of players finishing the game. Melo noted that the completion rate for Mass Effect 2 actually saw a jump this year due to players wanting to prepare their save files to import for the third game.
The developer says Mass Effect 1 only saw completion rates of 40 percent. Dragon Age: Origins was completed 36 percent while Dragon Age 2 was completed 41 percent.
Mass Effect 3 is now coming to Wii U as a launch title this holiday.
I'm honestly amazed. Everyone I know that played the game finished it. Hell, I must've played trough the campaign at least 4 times.
The only reason I haven't beaten ME3 is because I like it so much I don't want it to end... :3
I imagine that's pretty high compared to the usual though. I haven't played it, but if I ever buy it I'd have to finish the fight...
Wow. I know that MP cuts into core game time, but that's pretty sad.
Why not finish the game? The only complaint I had about the ending was that I wanted to know the lasting effect of the choices I made throughout the games...but it wasn't that bad to not finish it...
My opinion is either the game was too long (which it is quite lengthy), or they heard tell of the ending debacle prior to beating the game for themselves (pretty unavoidable really). Shame though, it's quite the ride and the EC makes the ending so much more palatable.
Good, the rest won't have to go through the disappointment.
What the hell is the point of buying a game if you're not going to complete it?? Idiots.
Bought the game when it came out, just never actually played it yet! Due to a backlog of other games I haven't even played yet!
I think that's really high compared to most games. Didnt gta have only a 5 percent player completion rate?
What do you think the rate is for COD?
You know, with this percentage of people who didn't finish the game, at least SOME of the people who complained about the ending probably did not even see it.
hahahah XD oh my god i love all the endings !! me3 but is not worth my time in it:D
I played it to the end because i love the games series and I wanted to see it through till the end. I can say i didn't like it but i loved the game. It is hard work to make a game like the Mass Effect series and I love the game for that aspect.
I beat it twice and now with the DLC coming out, which apparently adds more to the story...it's no wonder why some folks aren't completing it.
The main issue is the story is tied to much into its predecessors. The majority of people who finished ME3 reside with those who have been following and playing Mass Effect from the beginning. The percentage of people not finishing is largely those who hear the series is great and pick it up without considering playing in order.
