The lights are on
Saving Earth and stopping the Reapers didn't seem appealing for most gamers it seems. In its five months since release, BioWare says 42 percent of players actually finished Mass Effect 3.
BioWare online development director Fernando Melo revealed the data during a talk at GDC Europe today, as reported by Eurogamer. The completion rate is actually down from Mass Effect 2, which saw 56 percent of players finishing the game. Melo noted that the completion rate for Mass Effect 2 actually saw a jump this year due to players wanting to prepare their save files to import for the third game.
The developer says Mass Effect 1 only saw completion rates of 40 percent. Dragon Age: Origins was completed 36 percent while Dragon Age 2 was completed 41 percent.
Mass Effect 3 is now coming to Wii U as a launch title this holiday.
I managed to buy it for 27 bucks only 2 months after release. Thank god for used games.
I think it is worth finishing, I wonder how many people were scared off by the ending drama?
I don't understand why people don complete their games.
That's weird because i love this game and i beat it twice already and i am planning on beating it many more time. There has been no bioware game that i have not liked and beaten many many times. Go bioware!!
I have beaten ME3 a few times and i don't know why people wouldn't finish games they purchase.
Finished Mass Effect 2, and 3, 100% platinum on Dragon Age Origins and 2 with all DLC. Finished KOTOR 1 and 2 like 4 times each. I love Bioware games! Hopefully they will make another Dragon Age but closer to Origins than DA2. I will definitely be on board with that!
I'm pretty sure that over 42% of all gamers are the same pea-brained masses that consume all other forms of media with attention spans that make gnats look focused, so ME3 did pretty well.
This isn't a problem with ME3, its a problem with the average player not being the type to appreciate story-driven gameplay. The next few generations will have even better narratives and far fewer players like this.
I just don't get that. Why buy a concluding chapter and not finish it?
Before everyone freaks out, this is a normal number for game completion rates. However I'm certain that people are going to start blaming the ending.
i finish it, but its because that ending sucks
I just recently played and finished the game. I found everything to be great, and if you are one of the gamers out there who hasn't finished it yet, go do so. The ending isn't as bad as it is made out to be. And if you get the extended cut, it just makes it better.
wow, I suppose that is high, but it seems so low. I would expect at least 70% of gamers to finnish a game they bought. I try to complete every game I buy.
This is blaspemy! Mass Effect 3 wholly deserves to be played through entirely, if not multiple times. The game was fantastic. I got attached to the story too, but the ending was at least satisfactory for me.
baw cause all gamers do now is go straight to online. I beat it and enjoyed it.
I don't like these games.
I fought with Origin over the quality of the game and ending and demanded my money back. I got my money back and I will never go back to the ME universe again.
I was waiting for the extended release ending. And then they announced single player dlc that changes the ending. So what do I do now? Play the extended ending and then replay after the DLC comes out or just wait until all the DLC is done?
