The lights are on
Saving Earth and stopping the Reapers didn't seem appealing for most gamers it seems. In its five months since release, BioWare says 42 percent of players actually finished Mass Effect 3.
BioWare online development director Fernando Melo revealed the data during a talk at GDC Europe today, as reported by Eurogamer. The completion rate is actually down from Mass Effect 2, which saw 56 percent of players finishing the game. Melo noted that the completion rate for Mass Effect 2 actually saw a jump this year due to players wanting to prepare their save files to import for the third game.
The developer says Mass Effect 1 only saw completion rates of 40 percent. Dragon Age: Origins was completed 36 percent while Dragon Age 2 was completed 41 percent.
Mass Effect 3 is now coming to Wii U as a launch title this holiday.
Well If Mass Effect 1 has 40% and 2 has 56% (some getting ready for 3) then it's not that surprising.
I beat mass effect 3. Aewome.
Well, when you have such an great advertisement campaign everyone has to jump on the bandwagon. But once you start to play it and realize you don't know wt* is goin on or who anyone is, you lose what interest the advertising gave you and jump to the multiplayer. But hey I really doubt ea cares if people beat the game, they sold mad copies of the game and that's all ea cares about. I however loved the series and had multiple playthroughs on 1 and 2, and just 1 on me3 because it was pretty much pointless to go through again.
I bought it and never touched the single player, I played the multiplayer maybe 5 times and sold it
These seem low but are probably higher than most games. I try to finish most of the games I buy but sometimes it takes a few months with other games in between. With limited time I have to stop playing a game to play an anticipated title before I go back to finish a game.
this is one of the best trilogy i ever played. i did beat all 3 games multiple times..
Mass Effect 3 was awesome!!!
Mass Effect 2 and 3 are at the top of my very large backlog.
I wish I was one of the 58%... On a good day I'd give both Mass Effect and Mass Effect 2 a 9-10/10. Mass Effect 3 is probably a 6/10. Maybe on the day I win the lottery, I'd give it a 7...
What a great piece of trivia. I mean that. I would love to see some comparison to different genres and see how they all match up.
Dang...but it's low for all games, unfortunately.
I never finished ME2 personally, I just didn't feel motivated. The crew loyalty missions were the best part of that game and I wanted to do more missions involving them and the galaxy at large rather than fight annoying collectors (which I never felt were motivating antagonists) in their dreary boring ship.
But more than anything I just didn't want Mass Effect 2 to end, I had too much fun in that universe to see the credits and feel that longing for the next game like most of us experienced with Halo 2, so I abandoned it. And the more and more disappointing information I learned about ME3 the more I grew disenchanted with Mass Effect and Bioware. And I'll probably never finish the series overall which is disappointing but its a lot better than how I know I would feel if I had.
