The lights are on
David Crane, the creator of the original Pitfall, has announced a Kickstarter to fund his new game JungleVenture.
You can check out the Kickstarter here. David Crane is looking for $900,000 to fund his new game. David Crane was one of Activision's co-founders, but he hasn't been involved with the company in decades, and as such, no longer has access to the rights to develop a Pitfall title. That being said, 2012 does mark the 30th anniversary of the Pitfall franchise and JungleVenture will be a spiritual successor the alligator and snake jumping classic.
The Kickstarter pitch promises a realistic jungle, an engrossing storyline, and classic sidescrolling action that is, "easy for anyone to pick up but impossible to put down."
Check out JungleVenture.com for more information.
Email the author Kyle Hilliard, or follow on Twitter, Google+, Facebook, and Game Informer.
Good for him. I just wish that when they announce the Kickstarter, they would also say what platforms they are for.
read same know Uncharted ps3 good
Whoa! Thats alotta money to ask for but I'll try to send something.
He hasn't been in the industry for awhile and hes asking for almost a million bucks uhhh thanks but no thanks
...So basically it'll be Pitfall without Pitfall, but still in a jungle with everything else? Okay. I guess he wants to be sued. ;-) Also- engrossing story? I somehow doubt that will happen... Oh well, Pitfall sequels would be good anyway... :D (Spiritually, of course)
Pit fall was AMAZING!! WOW. I need to get it again :D
Is there anyone else who think at least half of this money he definitely won't spend on the game ?
Haha, nice try, David Crane. Not gonna fall for that one.
He's asking for a lot of money, but I guess Kickstarter is the way to do it.
Could be fun, but more information about the actual game and what platform he is aiming to make it for would be nice.
When did Kickstarter become so popular? They didn't seem to be all that big until about a year ago.
Pitfall. Ah I remember that. Great game.
Hopefully Jack Black will be in any advertisements for it.
You'd think he would have enough money.. But I love some retro style modern games, so this will be good.
