The lights are on
Epic Games director of production Rod Fergusson announced he's joining Irrational Games, makers of BioShock Infinite. Rod's departure was first reported by Kotaku earlier this afternoon and later confirmed via Twitter.
Though he didn't say what projects he's working on, Fergusson is likely helping development on BioShock Infinite, which has seen a number of key employees leave recently. "I've played Infinite and it's amazing! Can't wait for you guys to get your hands on it," he said.
Fergusson spent nearly 8 years at Epic Games in an executive producer role. Prior to that, he spent 10 years working at Microsoft as a program manager. One of the first projects he worked on was Microsoft Train Simulator.
Sad to see him leave Epic.
Side note: Epic is in Raleigh, North Carolina. Which is only about two hours from my house!
What is going on with Bioshock: Infinite? People are leaving, new people are coming in, it sounds like a mad house at Irrational.
Wow that was unexpected. I know he will do fine wherever he goes though because he has alot of talent. Epic will sure miss him.
Holy moley, wonder what this means for GoW: Judgment...
Good choice Irrational in my opinion makes way more creative games then Epic.
Sad to see him leave Epic, but he's joining Irrational, so that sounds good.
Key employees leaving Irrational before a major product launch worries me.
Wow, "I" thought Rod was set at Epic. Well good luck to him.
Well, at least he'll be lending his talents out somewhere else that produces top of the line games...
Best of luck to Rod. And thanks for that sawed-off shotgun.
Seems a bit strange to me for Epic to put Fegusson out in the media to talk about their upcoming game, and then he leaves before it even ships.
I'm not surprised though. Epic looks like it would be amazing to work at, but when they can spend over five years between games, how could anyone say no to Irrational?
Gun with chainsaw attachment easter egg in Infinite. DO IT.
Irrational be gettin' all kinds of talent lately.
I find this shocking but Irrational just got a great employee.
Good for Irrational, bad for Epic. I'm sure both will have many successes though.
Reading Rod Fergusson's name reminded me of the SNL Jeopardy skit where Burt Reynolds (played by Norm Macdonald) changes his name to Turd Fergusson.
