The lights are on
Rhode Island is now in control of 38 Studios' IP, including Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning and its MMORPG offshoot, known as Project Copernicus. The state is planning to seize computer equipment to keep the IP as intact as possible in preparation for an eventual sale.
Rhode Island helped the studio relocate there from Massachusetts by issuing $75 million in state bonds. As collateral, the now-bankrupt 38 Studios offered its assets, including patents, software, property, and the rights to its IP. The state moved to take control of those assets to prevent a bankruptcy trustee from selling items, such as computers, individually. Rhode Island argued in court that such a move would irreparably damage the state's efforts to keep 38 Studios' IP intact, as it prepares for a resale.
In an interview with Game Informer, EA Label president Frank Gibeau expressed interest in a possible Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning sequel. A source within Reckoning's development team later told us that EA passed on such a sequel in March.

I hope someone good buys this. Epic, maybe...?
I know it's a double post but I'm using my iPhone for GIO right now and I can't edit my comment.
Anyways, I'm pretty much wondering if Valve will get the chance to make this but, oh well.
The whole move and everything about this was a bad idea from the beginning.
Well, at least they managed to make a decent game and a few DLC packs before going out of business... ;-)
I like that there is the possiblity of a future for KoA. There seems to be so much potential with the title, letting it die in such an unfortunate way would be too bad.
Now it's a hurry up and wait game.
I hope epic can pick up the rights to the Amalur games. I thought reckoning was awesome.
Reckoning was a great game, and I hope that the IP gets picked up by someone for a good sequel.
I liked KoA. Its a shame what happened to the people working for 38 studios.
Wait...I think I don't understand this...Rhode island now owns KoA?
I still think Rhode Island set them up and had this planned from the start.
Curt Shilling was one of my heroes growing up. I'm bummed. Especially for all the folks who lost their jobs.
They should have never taken the bonds or relocated.
so..... is rhode island going to start making games?
EA is probably just going to pass on it again.
WOW! EA! Who would have thought? F'ing Leaches. I hope someone pours a healthy does of salt on your leech a s s and you shrivel up and die!!!!
Some people hate church and state, i feel about the same on state and video games.
