Xbox Live Indie Game Devs Ready For Third Uprising

The Xbox Live Indie Games community has already demonstrated a strong grow-your-own mentality, and that philosophy is extending to another homegrown event during September. A variety of developers will have their games highlighted every workday from Sept. 10-20, giving some much-needed publicity to games that might otherwise go unnoticed to most gamers.

The trailer below shows off this year's lineup, along with gameplay footage to provide a sense of what each title is about.

Here's the list of games and developers, along with links to their own individual trailers:

The Uprising's organizers will be providing frequent updates on the event on Twitter and Facebook. If you like what you see, be sure to support these guys with your wallets. They don't always get the credit they deserve.

  • I am clueless when it comes to indie games, so this will help.

  • All I hear is that Microsoft is screwing over indie devs. Just look at Polytron, MS made them pay the big bucks to update it. When their are so many better platforms of choice, why do they do Xbox? Legend of Grimrock has been HUGELY successful, for example. As has Minecraft and Day Z.
  • Ha, when I read this I thought they were actually uprising against Microsoft. Silly me!
  • This article put a smile on my face. God I love Indie games. Every single one of these games looks amazing. I hope Pixel runs smoother than it does in the video. I've been following Gateways for a while now, so I'm probably the most excited to play that one. City Tuesday looks like something I would really get into as well.
  • gateways looks cool with its 2d limited vision.

  • I've never heard any of these games until now. I guess they really aren't getting any publicity.
  • I'm interested in Xenominer, City Tuesday (if only I could tell what it's about), and Diehard Dungeon. Not sure that I'll be buying any of these though.

  • These games look... interesting, to say the least. As I have just finished my second run through Alan Wake, I feel like Gateways is trying to copy Alan Wake with that flashlight. Note: (I'm kidding).
  • Entropy, Gateways, and Diehard Dungeon look really cool. You can find some awesome, cheap games there

  • sweet

  • These are always amazing anyway, and this time seems to be no different. May the force be with them...again.

  • Gateway - Portal but with a lot more to worry about (like time travel and changing gravity and what not) could always use more puzzlers like that

Qrth-phyl - Uh kinda looked like snake but with 3d cubes can anyone confirm this? I want to know what it is before I give an opinion

Sentia - mosnters building bridges then killing each other, don't know how those will colide together but hey I'll probably try it

City Tuesday - the source code movie but without being stuck in the train, That actually sounds awesome

Diehard dungeon - orginal legend of zelda but Link is being followed by a chest instead of a fairy oh and lots of walls with spikes popping out, sounds solid enough

Xenominer - Fortresscraft but added gimmicks/innovation, as long as the voxel building genre innovates I don't mind them

Entropy - puzzler but with rocks made of different materials (like water?) don't know what to think of it

Pixels - AC Revelations Desmond sequences but expanded upon, Always thought that part could be better

Smooth operator - A Game about running a call center, Hey we could always use more games about running a call center like... well guess we still need one
  • I'm glad that there's going to be more "quality" content other than "Avatar Fart" on the system.

  • Diehard dungeon caught my eye

  • Awesome. I always love when Indie games are highlighted!

  • Nice to see more information about indie games being made available.
